reluctantly, I am leaving this paradise tomorrow. But already booked it for next year.
Blake U have you long undies yet? You'll need 'em. Winter starts early up there. Don't forget to get the ones with the drop down panel in the back. Those shacks at the end of the path get pretty cold.

-34 here last winter for most of february.
However the drop down idea is not all that bad, them poor southerners don't handle ice all that well...
as long as its in my tea, margarita, or my beercan is floating in it...

The ph00 doesn't smell like you mixed brown paint into it...it smells like you mixed in some week old Pelosi!
Evening DTR, doing good. work and a sick wife have been keeping me busy the last few days. Wife is feeling better tonight, she said she'll be going to work in the AM. She's felt like Pelosi since Sunday.
Got the Dragon walked and stoked for the night. Anyone seen SCOTT? The breakroom could use a good cleaning.
When we get -80 windchills, the drop down stays up!

Morning Crew. Coffee is on. Special surprise this morning. Its Dunkins.
Anyone who puts butter on wall paper paste and calls it food, don't know what decent food IS!
Today is Wednesday, August 17th. Glad y'all missed me yesterday!

On this day in 1790 - The capital city of the U.S. moved to Philadelphia from New York City.
1835 - Solyman Merrick patented the wrench.
1859 - A hot air balloon was used to carry mail for the first time. John Wise left Lafayette, IN for New York City with 100 letters. He had to land after only 27 miles. Apparently the unreliability of the postal service started early on!
1863 - Federal batteries and ships bombarded Fort Sumter in Charleston, SC, harbor during the Civil War.
1877 - F.P. Cahill became the first person to be killed by "Billy the Kid."
1896 - The Klondike gold rush was set off by George Carmack discovering gold on Rabbit Creek in Alaska.
1915 - Charles F. Kettering patented the electric, automobile self-starter.
1943 - The Allied conquest of Sicily was completed as U.S. and British forces entered Messina.
1961 - The Communist East German government completed the construction of the Berlin Wall.
1962 - 18-year-old Peter Fechter was killed by East German border guards when he attempted to cross the Berlin Wall into the western sector.
1969 - Hurricane Camille hit the Mississippi Gulf Coast killing 248 people.
1987 - Rudolph Hess died after apparently committing suicide. Hess was the last member of Adolf Hitler's inner circle.
1993 - Jack Kevorkian was charged in Wayne County, MI with assisting in the suicide of Thomas Hyde. Kevorkian was later acquitted.
1996 - Ross Perot was announced to be the Reform Party's presidential candidate. It was the party's first-ever candidate.
1998 - U.S. President Clinton admitted to having an improper relationship with Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern.
1998 - NationsBank and BankAmerica merge to create the largest U.S. bank.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle; if the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died as a result of wounds received in battle; if the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.
Mornin All
Oh I know exactly what you are saying. I thought of the Dakotas when I wrote that. You hit the point though. A life long southy in the north country is going to have a hard time. He'll be seeing -10's up there. Unless this winter does something weird like it did last year.

When the horse has both back Leggs in the air, the rider has not yet died but will soon as a result of not treating his/her horse kindly.

I can relax got my trivia history fix, thanks Chaikwa.
Thought for the day, what does it mean if the horse has all 4 leggs in the air?
Got places to go and things to do today.
Have a good un, and be safe out there.

Morning! Sorry for the early exit and no good night closing. Something came up
wyo, any sign of Astro?
Polarco, must wait for more time from DH to get off work. Or maybe I can go on the next trip with him, that would be cool.
Davey, my neighbors have a PT cruiser. They call it their 'bug' and is their tow behind for their RV. Be prepared to hear "it's cute"
FO, you're a big softie, just admit it.
LOL @ Matt - glad your wife feels better.
All this talk of cold weather

Fronty, world traveller- the country term "been around the world" is not what you think........hence being under some alcohol influence, tired and happy in three hours time.

yeah Jeff, hope ya find the poor guy. my devoted samoyed of 15 years (!!) just went into the woods one day. he knew. nature is best.
Cincy is just unnatural......good reason to panic.

weird phone call week, despite me being good and cleaning out the barn... doing last organizing of kept items, still have to attack the hardware dept.; you can hear an echo in the barn now. clean! clean! clean!

You mean hand raised, corn and grass fed steak, taters, fresh corn, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes, lettuce...
Or a chunk of pig fat deep fried...
No, nothing yet, still hope though...
I think your right, that is kinda what he did. Our last dog did the same. Walked over to each one of us individually, got a pat and gave a couple of licks, then wandered off to a grove of trees. Found him two days later. He really did say good bye to each one of us before he left. Man Sampson was a good dog. Astro was fun too. He thought he was a cow, we could never separate him from the herd or he would get upset. He would always sit and watch the calves, and play with them. Gonna miss the old guy.

soo please, post pics of what you eat- I can look but not touch. Mardi gras is gonna be tough!
