$12K Cat
For all you cat lovers out there, here is dedication to your cat.
Woman Pulls Cat Out of Coyote's Jaws
RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — The last things Melissa Bratvold considered were medical bills and safety when she saw a couple of coyotes about a dozen feet from her back door, one with her pet cat Abby in its mouth.
"I saw her eyes, and I could just tell that Abby wasn't going to make it," Bratvold said. "I didn't think, I just went for her ...
"It was a melee. I was screaming, they were biting," she said. "I don't even remember how I got the cat out of their jaws. I was hysterical."
Bitten on the hands and arms, she pulled the cat to safety.
"I didn't want to let my cat go. It wasn't going to end like that," Bratvold said. "When it was over, my porch looked like a 'CSI' crime scene — hair, blood and slime was everywhere."
Eight weeks later, after surgery for a collapsed lung and other injuries, Abby is home again with Bratvold in the Horn Rapids area on the northern outskirts of the eastern Washington town. Veterinary bills exceeded $2,000, and Bratvold's medical bills ran about $10,000.
"Abby is back to her original self," Bratvold said, "although she's an indoor cat now."
Coyote sightings in the area are not uncommon. Horn Rapids Golf Course workers say they frequently find the remains of house cats and other small animals killed by predators, and what Bratvold did was ill-advised, said Michael Livingston, a biologist with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife (search).
"At that point, I would have considered the cat a goner and taken it as a valuable lesson to keep my cat inside," Livingston said.

I had a similar situation a few months ago.
But in my case, my cat was in the jaws of a mountain lion. I was yelling from a distance of about 15 feet w/ the door in my hand, ready to bolt inside. No way was I getting closer w/ the lions eyes boring a hole in me. I did scare it away though. It left the cat quivering before it died.

The cat must've been her "baby". Those kinds of people have more money than brains. Cats are a dime a dozen, or FREE.

Still, $12,000.00?!?!?
I can't help but wonder if she didn't regret that impulse decision after she saw the bills.

I don’t think she regrets saving her pet. Just like any other pet your close to a truck load of them wouldn’t replace the one you had because they are all unique in their own way. Granite Head no, Loving Heart yes.
Life no matter what form it comes in is worth saving, especially if it belongs to a friend. What she did IMO wasn’t as stupid or as expensive or as destructive as some of the things I’ve seen or heard about happening after the statement, “Hold my beer and watch this”.

Haha Flashdancr. I personally would have done the same thing, I wouldn't bother going inside and grabbing the remote controlled drill. Well, I wouldn't save a cat though, only one of my dogs. I wouldn't put myself in danger for someone else's pet, unless I knew who they were, otherwise, I didnt see anything.

Some people are dedicated to their pets. They made fun of me at work when I told them I spent $1500 to get my one Rottie out of the vetrinary hospital when she had bladder stones and other complications. I feel as long as the quality of life for the pet is improved, I will spend the money. If I can't afford to take proper care of them, I don't deserve to keep them.
When my oldest baby got attacked by four other stinking muts, her bills went up over $2000 dollars. Everyone said the same thing, dogs are a dime a dozen. That told me what kind of person they were. Sorry if this offends you, this is the way I feel about my animals which are part of my family.
Just my two fake aluminum copper coated (to look like a real penny) worthless cents here.
This is my old one I got well and then had to put to sleep becasue of cance in her leg.

My wife and I were talking about this stuff a week ago.
Why do men fight wars??? all this macho stuff. whacking heads off, bullets between the eyes, big guns and knives and things that go bang, big threats, big words, lots of bravado, chest thumping. power trip right.
Just tell a female that her cat is in jepardy, that her hubby is in danger, or her child is in danger and ...boom. She will kill everything. no honor, no bragging, no 2nd chance, no negotiatiing, no remorse,...just flat out get the job done, kill everything, get the loved one back and go on with life like nothing happend..
Nerver gave a thought to her dimunitive size, squeeky voice, $200 blond hair do, $100 nail job, $900 power suit....on and on.

But in all honesty I would probably have done the same for my pet.
