got a late start on it today, only had fifteen minutes to mess with it, but its not the easy thing, popped out the plugs and still nothing..... sounds like the starter just isn't working, kinda like when a starter goes bad, it just clicks. I got a charger on the battery and grabbed one of my deep cycles from my folks so I can have some power on standby. I wish it wasn't so **** cold out, tomorrow would be a good long day to mess with it otherwise.
happy new year to all as well, got a bit of headwayon the quad today, freed up the motor and it spins well, under starter power anyway....... does not seem like i am gettin spark and from what I read it could be a bad ecm, caused by any number of reasons, or a bad stator, or a bad wire hiding. I did manage to find the fuse box and 3 out of 4 fuses were not blown butthe spades were eroded. Put in new fuses and whatya know, the lcd gauges came to life ! not sure how to cycle through but the closest thing to an odometer looked like 223 miles?????? put stuff away for the night as it is starting to get cold, shadows long, dark soon. funny as it sounds, I am not sure if I am working, or have the day off tomorrow ????? I might run to a polaris dealer and see if I can talk with a service person on what to check next, might order parts while I am there. Not sure but the ecm might be good if the electronic gauges are good > ? I dunno, but callin it a day.
dunno, might have to make a fiday night meet soon...... boy what a night on the quad, turns out it is not going to be easy, most of the electrical looks ugly, connectors coroded....... turns out that that 232 miles, was the trip, quad has a bit over ten times that, so quite a few miles on it
but what a pain the electrical is being, stuff not making sense, and the hiding short that seems to be causing trouble. now the fun begins, parts to start working towards a fix. well, at least it is out of the back of my truck. big thanks to Chris and Billy from Autoworks Diesel perfomance for helpin me on this one, and to chris especially for supplying the garage to work in.
