NCDTR #18 Member "Cadash" in Hospital
I received a call today from our own ShakinRedCTD (Nate Eix) who informed me that one of our NCDTR #18 Members, namely, cadash (Dan) is apparently in the hospital at Camp Lejeune after having back surgery. Nate is going to try and get us some more details on what happened and we will let you guys know. In the meantime, lets keep Dan in our prayers too.
Dan, get well soon buddy!

Just got off the phone with dan and he is ok. He is heavily drugged and has had a run with this one. He was experiencing a lot of pain and lost the feeling in his leg. They went in and fixed it, but he like I said is on Oxy and probably more....feeling very nauseous and will call me back later.
Get better Dan, I need your help getting that dang tranny out again...LOL

Hey all!! I first want to say how much my wife and I love you all! One big happy family!! Now that I feel somewhat stable heres whats been happening.
About 3 and a half years ago I hurt my back lifting a mower. My doctor at the time magically diagnosed me with a stained lumbar. He didnt even look. So I continued flying through the years lifting and hurting like it was no big deal. So finally getting fed up with it I went to a different doctor who sent me to a chiropractor. The chiro only took x-rays and said i looked fine. This was July of last year. So for 3 months of getting my back manipulated, poked and proded with no pain relief he decided it was time for an MRI. I cant count the amount of meds I was put on prior to the MRI. So after the MRI I was told I have 3 disc bulges. L3/L4, L4/L5, and L5/S1 with the L4/L5 being the worst. It was so bad it was pushing on my nerves and such. I had numbness in my leg and foot with spasms that hurt so bad it put my on the floor. I was given valium for the spasms to make me sleep, and even antidepressants for pain. Pain management was also brought up but I flipped out when I told them to fix the problem not cover it up. He even told me that half of America has back pain..deal with it.
Nothing worked...so I finally get to a specialist in Wilmington. He sees my past treatment and decides the only way to fix it is through surgery because of my conservative past treatment. We are now in December. So for the past few months I have been walking around with a numb leg and foot with horrible pain. I had my surgery this past thursday. I asked my surgeon how it went and he said longer than normal. He also said I had a herniated disc in there to. Thats why it took a little longer than normal. But I was sent home that day but had to go to the ER later that night because the pain was way to intense. I guess there is a small percentage of people that need some extra time to heal because of severe back injuries. So they kept me till yesterday(saturday) to make sure I was ok. But here I am getting reaquanted with my leg and foot. The meds Im on make me dizzy and very sick feeling. Its hard to walk and stand even with my walker. The bad part is that it took so long to finally get here feeling better. I will keep you guys updated some more. Thank you all again!

Hey buddy, thanks for the post! We are all VERY GLAD to hear you are doing well after all that! We missed seeing you and your big Ford PSD at CPD yesterday, but there will be plenty of time for that. You take it easy, and let us know if there is anything any of us can do for you.

well hope your recovery goes well..
I have had my 2 herniated discs for 3 years now.. I have exercises I do, and so far I have been ok.. in the last 3 years I have had to flare ups.. but was quickly fixed by stretching, etc..
I have been trying to avoid the surgery unless I have to get it.. only time will tell.
but good luck and glad to hear you are back home..

Thanks for the update Dan. Hate you had to go through all that.
Look on the bright side, maybe you could get your wife to wear one of those "nice" nurse's uniforms to make you feel better...
