Me and Brian have been talking about getting a race going. We have a 1/8 mile track near us that is available Oct 10th and I've been talking with the NADM guys for sponsorship help. Nothing concrete yet, I'll keep everyone up to date.
Sorry to hear that Mike. Being home all the time makes me think I lost mine. Once I get the boot I have no idea what I am going to do. I love working on diesels but I dont know if my back will hold up. I though about driving trucks but.....yeah!!! A few contractors said I would be a shoe in for a job on base but I want as far away from there as possible. Come on down to J-ville and we can open up a Buffalo Wild Wings in the middle of town!!! Or a Dave and Busters!!

I wish I had the kind of money. Sounds like a great idea. I've been looking at the trucking industry myself.

Bryan,......I hate it that you went to Colorado. I miss seeing you around here Sir.

As Mike said, hopefully we can get an event going down here for you guys after the summer is over. FWIW,......Mike and I were pretty "beat down" after some of the criticism we received before and after our event last year.
What is funny though is that none of the "naysayers" have stepped up to take over our positions since then!

Sounds positive John and good to hear there could be something in the works for the fall. Good hearing from everyone else and seeing some of you at some of the events has been a very busy summer for me as well.

Give me a buzz sometime and let me know what you decide on the truck driver school.

I looked into pilot school about 3 or 4 years ago, eek! talk about expensive.

Well I thought I would post up also. I finally started tearing my rig down. I am renting an airplane hangar just north of Fuquay-Varina. I have the trans on the ground and working on getting the engine out next. I work at a very slow pace so I'm hoping to have truck back up and running by mid fall. I am putting a 92 6bt with less miles than what's in my truck now. Also using wiring harness from donor 92 to add cruise control, and eliminate rat's nest wiring in the cab. I have a dually rear end that's going under truck and I am in desperate need of 1st gen dually fenders if any one comes across a set that's not half way across the world let me know. After all this, new carpet, seats, weather stripping, windshield, etc.etc. body work and paint. It will be a long process since I'm driving it while working on it. Any way I enjoyed hearing from some of you and what your up to. Sorry Mike to hear about your job loss! You might want to reconsider the truck driving thing. I spent 20+ years in the trucking industry and if your interested I can provide some insight to trucking. Take care every one and I hope to see you at an event this fall......Augie

When you were prior service, did you get any GI bill benefits. If I do the flying thing, thats the route Im probably gonna take. Cape fear college has a great truck driving program.

Hey Augie, what can you tell me about the truck driving thing? Im open to ALL suggestions!!!

Hey Ken! No it's off of 401 on Hilltop - Needmore rd. It's the circle w airport I believe it's called. Cadash, the trucking industry is not a good field to get into if you have a young family. I met you this spring at Wayne's Dyno and remember how we talked about camping. I don't know what type of work schedule you are accustomed to but this is how the trucking field works. A) OTR(over the road) - gone all the time. Usually two weeks out at a time. Some companies try to get you back home more often but that is the normal run. B) Line haul - you run from the same company terminal to another company terminal (Yellow,Old Dominion etc. trucking co.) 10 to 12 hours away. You drop trailer go to hotel room go off duty for 8 - 10 hrs. and then go back home. Same run every shift You are at the mercy of dispatch since you are on bottom of driver board. You will work holiday's,anniversary"s,birthday's etc. etc. C) Local P and D (pick up and delivery) - work in your area and called in mid morning because of being low on driver board. You average 12 hr. a day 5 to 6 days a week. You will miss every family activity that takes place during the evening. These are just some typical truck driving jobs. The money is good with many companies but not so good with others. You have to ask yourself how valuable is your time with your family? Also stay away from union jobs! Pay is great but if you strike it's like starting all over again if contract can't be agreed upon and strike lasts for awhile. Believe it or not I miss trucking!! It's a love - hate relationship. I drove for small and large union/non union companies, was an owner-operator,and was dispatcher for a tanker company. Basically you have to pay your dues before you get good work schedule. Again what is your family time worth? If I were single I would be running coast to coast! But I'm not. I have a great job and I don't miss family time. Don't forget your back also. You will have to handle freight in some shape or form, and it is rough on the back. I hope I didn't throw to much at you but I just wanted to let you know what was involved with driving a truck. Any more questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and Congrat's on the up coming birth of God's child. He loans them to us for a few years with the hope we will raise them to spread his gospel!......Augie Dog

From the times we hung out I thought you'd be the kind of person to get into the engineering field, maybe mechanical or electrical. After my 3 remaining years are up I will be jumping back to school to finish my degree in mechanical engineering, physics and math are my thing.

Are you coming out to help or drink beer??? I don't know where this place is. My shop is third from the last building on the left. Did you drive all the way back past trucking company and see an outdoor fenced in rv/boat/car/truck storage lot? Right before my shop is a company that does underground utilities. They have all kinds of equipment in front of shop. I'm trying to get engine pulled hopefully this week. Give me a holler!!
