Give me a call when this is going down - there are never enough diesels at CPD for me to play with and I want to run those cheater slicks some more. Chris is finally putting an intake and down-pipe on his '06 LBZ - about time he put some of the basics on that truck. We are still the fastest stock LBZ, even though the competing trucks have intakes, down-pipes, and drag radials they are still at 12.50 and above while Chris had none of those things and went 12.42 on BFG ATs, and has run a bunch of other 12.4s as well. We'll see if we can hit 12.3s with the intake and down-pipe and maybe some more tuning.

Will do. I am looking at being a 13 flat truck again since I dropped the tst. Hope that is a far as it dropped. I also have to see where I am leaking oil from. I replaced the rear main, but it looks like the RMS or the pil pan are leaking....I do not want to remove that tranny again...but if I do I have it figured out now.

I got down in the 12.3s finally - ran 3 12.36 passes last Sunday at Coastal.

Got something new to add to the bench racing for John P. Bring the '96 to race a Diesel Addiction DMax - unless you're scared. It's Winston's Crew Cab, single turbo, all motor, no drugs, on highway street tires.

Good times, man!

Don't mess with John P like that... I don't think that he's scared of anything...

OthrGrl:

What does Winston's Crew Cab run in the 1/4 mile?? I have heard high 10's or low 11's Sir! And NO,....I am NOT SCARED of Winston's Truck or anybody elses either OthrGrl,.. but I am also not stupid either! To be honest with you, I am kinda of surprised to hear YOU make a statement like that Sir!
You sound alot like a guy I have argued with pretty heavily over on CompD by the name of COMP461. He drives that 2WD Dodge CTD CR that has been featured in "Diesel Power" called "Project X" and he did pretty much the same thing over there as you are doing here,...that truck runs high 10's!

All of this now makes me wonder if you are "irritated or upset" that my truck ran so well at our CPD Drag Race Event and this is your way of "getting back at me" because YOUR truck is not as fast as mine. Granted,... your truck did very well and I congratulated you on that at our event. I was happy for you guys and told you so to your face! But with that being said, I also don't think that it would be fair for me to "call you out, or challenge you" to a drag race when my truck runs nearly a second faster than yours! I just wouldn't do that. Maybe you are also upset about the "banter" between Nate (ShakinRedCTD) and myself concerning us drag racing our trucks.
I can tell you this,.... our trucks are MUCH closer (within probably 2-3 tenths) than what I think Winstons and mine are!

Just curious, because as you know, the majority of my truck (with the exception of the engine and tranny) are still STOCK. That is INCLUDING the seats, bumpers, trailer hitch, pretty much EVERYTHING that originally came on the truck. Heck, you guys rip out almost all your seats, bumpers, spare tires and gosh knows what else! All I generally take off my truck (as was the case at our event at CPD) was my spare tire. Heck, I even run with my tailgate on. No offense, but I like to compare "apples to apples" NOT "apples to oranges" if you know what I mean. If two diesel pickup trucks are "equal" then that is one thing, but if their times are close to or more than a second apart, then I don't look at that as being fair Sir!

Why do you think that NHRDA, NADM, DHRA or even our NCDTR #18 Classes at our GTG were set-up the way they were?? So the competition is FAIR!!
So,.....let me hear what you have to say.

Whoa, John - it was just a friendly challenge/call out, it wasn't a personal shot at you - you're truck is awesome and you are a great guy. I just don't know of any other truck around town that's a good challenge for us. I can't get Winston to strip any weight - he has his spare tire off the truck all the time and only takes off his tailgate and toolbox to race. The bumper, beefed up hitch, seats all his crap under the back seat and EVERYTHING else that came on it stays on the truck. And we'll race you with the tailgate on so it's apples to apples. His best time is 11.41 @ 120mph so far with a few other 11.4 passes, it being that close to yours is why I would like to see the 2 trucks run side by side, I love a good race.

I'm not irritated or upset - for what my truck has done I'm happy with it and for the few things Chris has done (exhaust, lift pump, shimmed FPRV, and tuning) I'm even happier with how his runs - he still has a bumper and hitch too and is right there with me. Just wish Winston's truck would have been done for the GTG so he could have run with you and Jess, not that he would have won - but it would have been fun to see.

O.K.,....fair enough, but again,........I have heard his truck is much faster than that.

We will have to see how things go as I do not know how much longer CPD will be open this season and as you may or may not know, my rear differential (ring and pinion) are SHOT after 300,000 miles of hard use and towing and I have to get that taken care of hopefully this month. And if you doubt that or think that is an "excuse" from me, you can ask Mike D. or some of the other guys here and they will confirm that for you.

I think where you crossed the line there is when you threw that "unless you're scared" shot at John. If you knew John like we do, you wouldn't have said that, that's like hanging red meat in front of a hungry wolf. Not a good way to initiate a "friendly challenge" if you ask me.

Hey, guys... you know Marines sometimes... retards... Uncle Sam's Misguided Children, right?

No harm, we're all cool. Mike, John, you should see some of the things we call each other... we don't deal with real people too much.

Wish I could use EFI live. I'm mad about that... I may have fibbed a little when I said I was ok getting beat by a D-max at CPD a few weekends ago...

Whew....ok.

I saw where this was going to go....Easy fellas. As far as the Red Ram Rocket goes, I will back that up, the rear end is toasted in it. Not dead, but definately not healthy. John, we Marines have a harsh way of playing with others, and I know he (Dustin) did not mean to disrespect ya!! We have a very good relationship with these Dura-smack ----I mean DuraMax guys!! In fact I was very happy to see the #'s he is putting down with that truck.

We all know that John_P is a very distinguished racer on here...And there are a few of us that are up-coming in this unstable sport. What I want to see is more of these invitations, let's just ensure that the lines are clearly drawn....

Now lets get back to the matter at hand...

John and Mike, as the other Marines have said - I didn't mean any disrespect by it and we talk much worse than that to our best friends. I already knew about your R&P (didn't know it wasn't fixed yet though) and would rather you fix that beforehand, better to fix it before it causes any more damage. Get her up and running so we can see a good race.

Once again it was simply a friendly challenge and the "unless you're scared" part would have had a very sarcastic tone if we would have been talking in person and I'm sure there would have been no confusion on my intentions. You're truck is awesome in my book and I have alot of respect for you and your truck, but I obviously don't know you like these guys do or I would have worded it differently.

Here's a video of me running a 12.36 @ 108 beside Winston running a 11.46 @ 120.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o198moJ87wE
The 11.41 was the first run on Sunday and he still had the camera sitting on his front seat so we didn't get it on tape. Have a few more videos of 11.4 runs though. We did our shakedown runs at Kinston last thursday and then some more runs at CPD Sunday so I don't know how word is already out about what we ran. Winston thinks we can get 10s out of it but I'm not so sure - it's not as easy to shave .5 when you are already that fast, where as Nate shaved .3 with a tire change, and I did it with an intake swap but that was at high 12s/low 13s.

Ain't that the truth....calling John scared sends him straight to DEFCON 5!! Maybe that's why I get along with him so well....I'm the same way.

The very first time I met John in person was at CPDS after we had talked several times on the phone and we lined our trucks up atleast 4 times and I have to say it was an awesome time.

He brought his 06 and I was more than impressed with how that truck run....especially when my ET was faster than his but he pulled away from me like he was spraying it when the converter locked.
After the run we laughed and talked about it and then lined em up again several more times.
John was with me when my truck finally got into the 12's and was probably as much or more happy than I was about it.

He has always given me respect and complimented my truck even though the Fords seem to get more smack talked about them than the others.

That is what I call a true racer and a good friend!!

I am going to poke my head in here, I have seen Johns truck lay down many dyno runs, go down the track, a little spirited on the street even. He takes very good care of that gorgeous truck and that is tribute to how long those stock parts have lasted even under 800+ HP. Oh BTW, John does this 800 miles from home also (as you can see I am from KY), can you trust your truck to do that far away from home?
