TXDTR#8 (North Texas DTR) - March 2007
Won't mention the place for two reasons....
-No longer there
-8 of 10 Firerings they did.... blew gaskets again. To be fair, this was 3 1/2 yrs ago....when 'more was better' regarding boost. Those guys were making 80-100+ psi.
And the head-bolt torquing techniques were less careful.... something I hope I have corrected?
These 'pioneers'
were the ones that gave Firerings a bad name. I personally believe that they are a notch above o-rings.... but either is good, if the head is decked and the groove is cut properly! JMO

I do know the Firering gasket still has the metal sealing ring around the piston but is recessed from the lip of the cylinder more than standard gasket.
RJ
O-ringing is less invasive. I think .015" is all that it needs? Don’t quote me on that. And Fireringing is .040". You can just do the head, bock and head or just block. The o-ring is built into the gasket........honestly.....IM going to do studs and a MLS gasket when time comes....i "MIGHT" o-ring just for S&G's and i now have access to a rig to do it myself if keith will let me! haha!
Fade.....careful what you wish for!
HAHA...i cant say enough about this group myself.....great bunch i still like to call my Texas DTR family!

OK, thanks for the info RJ. Im curious now who I could go to with my own head to avoid that problem, if I ever got to that level of performance.
Good luck finding the right shop/people to do yours B.
