Salt Lake City get together
Re:Salt Lake City get together
Got this thing at the TDR as well so there is not too much preasure to get all 10 from here. From the posts above, if the ones say they will be there and dyno, we have over 10, just want to see if we might have 15 or not.
Re:Salt Lake City get together
THis is dumb, but 45$ per person? I really dont think they would let 10 people use the dyno all day for 45 bucks. Im gonna be at the red robin for sure.
Re:Salt Lake City get together
When I talked to Phantom last year about a dyno day, they were only $40 for 2 runs. So I assume that the $45 figure is for 2 runs. This was without the rpm sensor.

Eric, one question to ask is whether the $45 incudes hooking up a rpm sensor. It's not worth the extra $5 for getting torque readings IMO. Torque can easily be figured out mathmatically and the time saved in not having to hook up the sensor is definately worth it.

Phantom isn't necessarily the best place for diesels because the dyno is buried deep inside the shop. We'll smoke 'em out. But the last itme I checked it was the only Dynojet in Utah, and some of us will be able to top many of the dyno charts on the office wall, which should blow a few minds.
Re:Salt Lake City get together
Yes $45 is for 2 runs if we get over 10 people.

I told the guy that there are some high hp truckas and we might make some good smoke, I asked him if he had a pipe hookup and he said no so if he don't mind the smoke, so be it....

I asked what was the highest HP he measured on that and he said 900 hP but I bet that was a blown dragster car.....

I think the $45 is including the hookup for the RPM. I didn't ask more info.

I assume heyare fast, he said they did 13 runs from another group and did it in like 4-5 hours. so Are we set? is there going to be 10 of us? I am going to call tomorrow and make the spot reserve.

Re:Salt Lake City get together
13 runs in 4-5 hours is really slow. Think about the dyno meet at Edge last year when over 30 trucks were done in less time. Or even better still, think about May Madness '02 when Diesel Dynamics ran trucks through in much less than 10 minutes a piece. This has been one of my concerns about using Phantom. We'd have to teach them how to use their dyno.

The 900 hp they've seen was probably some dual trubo rice rocket on nitrous, and isn't too common. Judging by the charts on their walls, anything over 300 hp is rare.
Re:Salt Lake City get together
From the post above I count about 7 people might or will dyno.
Phox, drawson, bart, bigbadddiesel, trashdawg, satmike ? , and maybe Utah.

If there are any others that would like to dyno and havent spoken up yet, let me know, I will tell the guys at Phantom that with straglers, we might have 10 runs for them......

Can't wait til next week

Oh and anybody, wives, kids, BF GF, whatever, bring em, love to meet them. I'm trying to get my parents to go.
Eric

Re:Salt Lake City get together
Got our slot for noon next sat. at phantom. I told them we might have 10 but only if there are straglers that will dyno. I told them it will be over 5 though......

Put Amsoil synthetic in the axles, wonder if that will give me more power? We can hope!!

Anyway, see you all at Red Robin at 10 am. Try to get there a little early so we can eat and have time for BS. I will call RR and see if they can set up a large table or something.....

Eric
Re:Salt Lake City get together
Hey Eric,

Bring along a set of winter guards for a 2002 non sport, little late for this winter, but at least I'll have them for next year.

Also, maybe bring a set of your mud flaps/splash guards and I'll see if they fit with my bigger tires (thinking they are too narrow, but maybe).

Called Layne at DOR today, and still a couple of weeks till the bumper is ready, he just sent 11 of them to the Powder Coater, so I guess I'll have to wait to show that off.

phox
Re:Salt Lake City get together
I'll bring a selection of my stuff, mudflaps, winter guards, Cubby hole plates......

The mudflaps are almost 11 wide. If you place it just right on the fender, you can provide good protection. Mine are about 3" longer than a long mudflap. About 22" long
Re:Salt Lake City get together
On the west side of Salt Lake City, take I-215 to 3500 south, turn West to the light and turn left, Mall is on the left, at the far end of the Mall is the Red Robin Rest.
