NC Dyno Day Aftermath (sans drag race)
NC Dyno Day Aftermath (sans drag race)
Had a GREAT turnout for the dyno day at Wayne's Dyno and Performance in Jacksonville yesterday! I think at one time there were over 35 trucks there, and I know Wayne was very surprised to have 22 trucks dyno! Unfortunately, yet again, too many people washed their trucks and summoned the rain gods, so the drag race was washed out. However, I think everyone had a great time, and I know it was great to catch up with everyone and kick the tires. It's always good to see the guys from the west part of the state and of course the Virginia crowd. We had the chance to try some interesting comparisons on the dyno between different boxes, different settings, nitrous, and I think we even managed to convert a prior Banks user to the real performance side. All in all it was a fun day, even without the racing.
After the event we substitued racing with a marathon dinner at Logan's Roadhouse over on the north side of town. The food was good, and I'd like to personally thank Brian Buchannan for picking up the tab on the ENTIRE MEAL... all 15-20 of us!! Like I told ya last night... if you need any help on your truck, especially with the bottle, give me a shout!
Thanks to all the sponsors who donated all the giveaways that were given away at the event! I can't remember them all, but I know they include TST Products, ATS Diesel, DTT/TRE Diesel Performance, Forrest City Diesel, Sears, Amsoil (Joel Williams), Advanced Auto, and probably more I can't even remember. Thanks as well to John_P and Chris Dubie (Pappa Smurf) for doing a lot of the leg work to get the event organized. Thanks also to Wayne and his crew at the dyno shop for dealing with the pesky diesels and that PITA crank sensor pickup
.... I know those guys were pretty beat after all that work!
John_P has all the results from the dyno and should post them up here later. I had a blast and am looking forward to the next one!

Johnner, thanks for posting some of the news on the event!
As Johnner and Chris said, we had a great time even though the rain prevented us from getting to the drag strip. That is the second year we have had this happen and my apologies to all of you that wanted to drag race. If Chris or myself could have changed that, we surely would have.
As Johnner pointed out, an event like this cannot be held without extensive sponsors and support. I am going to add to what Johnner already posted on the sponsors who graciously donated products and money so we could have a good event for all of you. Some of these diesel companies that helped us do this year after year and at more than just our event, so I encourage all of you to PLEASE support these companies and business when you need aftermarket diesel performance products or related items!! Without them, we would not have been able to conduct this event like we did.
1.) TST Products- My thanks to Mark and Gina Chapple.
2.) ATS Diesel Performance- My thanks to Clint and Ranee Cannon.
3.) Scheid Diesel- My thanks to Dan Scheid and J.P. Pezan.
4.) Forest City Diesel- My thanks to Keith and Lisa Livingstone.
5.) TRE Diesel Performance- My thanks to Tim Barber
6.) Sears
7.) Advanced Auto Parts- My thanks to Greg.
8.) Auto Zone
9.) 30 Minute Muffler- My thanks to Craig and Tracy Barnard.
10.) Amsoil- My thanks to Joel Williams
11.) Cris Sonnichsen (masonic-dodge)
12.) Michaelangelos Pizza- My thanks to Shane
13.) Waynes Dyno and Performance- My thanks to Wayne and his entire crew! (FWIW,.......Wayne said this was the LARGEST DYNO EVENT he has ever had at his business! )
I also want to thank some other individuals that were instrumental in helping at this event. My partners, Chris and Leigh Dubie for organizing and setting everything up. My son John Jr. for help before and after the event. Mike Dolan for help before and after the event. Cris Sonnichsen for help before and after the event. You guys all made my "load" alot lighter!
Also my SINCERE THANKS to Brian and Sandy Buchanan for buying dinner for all of us at "Logan's Roadhouse" Saturday night!! Brian,......you have definitely come a LONG WAY from the 211 H.P. you laid down about two years ago!
Congratulations on 546 HP/938 TQ. number!!!
If I have missed ANYBODY in all of this, I apologize!
My sincere thanks to all of you that attended our event this year making it our largest in numbers of trucks and participants since Chris, Leigh and myself began coordinating this over three years ago!

Hey guys, great event. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to organize this event especially John Porterfield and Chris Dubie. An event like this do not just happen, they take a lot of work and organization and these two among others did an awesome job to put this together....a sincere Thank You to y'all! Thanks to all the sponsors who donated, and Wayne and his crew who busted their humps all day and somehow managed to keep smiling. It was great seeing some awesome trucks and big #'s on the dyno!
It's too bad about the rain and no drag racing for 2 years in a row, but that is mother nature's choice. Maybe it was a sign so someone who will remain nameless
didn't break anything else.........yes, I know all of you are thinking......."hmmm, that could be me he's talking about" and that is true with myself lumped into there. Anyway, great time and great dinner, great hospitality and great company! John, thank you greatly for your hospitality this weekend. I'll look forward to the next one!
PS. Thanks Brian and Sandy for dinner! Y'all didn't need to do that, but it is appreciated just the same.

Hello
I second everything everyone said above this post.
I really enjoyed making the rounds trying to talk to everyone, that was great.
To Buck and Sandy, Leigh and my thanks goes out to you for dinner.
I send my thanks out to everyone that traveled out to our event even in the gamble of possible bad weather. Thanks.
John_P
Thank you, I felt like I left you hanging when I was all messed up from the pinched nevere. You are the unsung hero of this event.
To all
I will talk to John_P about the possible changing the month for this event.
We have talked about this in the past and thought April was the best bet.
May Starts to get hot
June Our good friends up in Va have their awsome event.
July DHRA up in Indy and way to hot in N C
Aug Schield Diesel event and still to dang hot in N C
Sept Mopar Nationals down in Ga start of the Huricanes aiming in for the N C coast. (Last year John and I attended this event and cranked up the trucks and high tailed it back home to prepare for a huricane)
Oct The heart of Huricane season for the N C coast folks
Nov Holiday season starts
Dec Holiday season in full swing and wives hands in the wallet more often.
I really enoyed our event and it was refreshing to see new faces/trucks attending.
I think it is time for me start working on my truck to get it ready for pulling.
Thanks again to all who attended
See Ya

I'm glad you guys had fun. I couldn't make it because I got slammed by a storm that morning. I was in the shower when the power went out and then the storm hit. A lot of tree branches went down, took out a couple of small sections of fence, cable, telephone and power lines came down, BUT THANK GOD!!! nothing hit my truck.
Cleaned up the brush and helped my neighbor patch her fence much to the dismay of her dogs who really enjoyed the new territory.
Anyways, all is okay except for a 6 foot section of vinyl siding that I can't find. Hate that I missed it.
BOY DID SOME OF YOU GUYS LAY DOWN SOME VERY NICE NUMBERS!!!!!!!!!!

Whew!,,,,,,,,,
I had fun and it sure was good to see so many friends and make more new ones again. I want to thank all you folks that had a hand in putting on this great event. Big THANKS to the sponsors for donating and I even managed to walk out with a nice new T-shirt!
Wayne, I blew the horn when I rolled past your place a little after noon on Sunday going home,,,,, but the way you and your crew spent the day before jumping in,,, out,,,, and under trucks,,,,,,, I would hope you was still kicked back relaxing.
Sounds like I missed a good meal at Logan's, however I went back to the 5er and wifey was fixing a fried pork-chops meal that was very tasty and led me to stretching out on the couch and watching the NASCAR race.
I sure hope to see quite a few of y'all up here on the weekend of the 3rd & 4th of June for the Claremont Roundup. We will try to order up some sunny skies and mild weather for that event.
Now I guess I should get back to work,,,,,,,,,,,,, gotta love these graveyard shifts,,,,,,,

A few more pictures:
A few that gathered for breakfast.

The Trucks

The trucks, and an interloper that sneaked in with us. Ominous weather in the background....bad foreshadowing for our drag racing plans.
