Hello All

I am throwing this out there, my vote is we do the event the weekend of the 9th of Dec.
My better half is due home sometime around 2-6 Dec from another tour over seas, anyone who knows her knowns she has been bitten by the diesel bug pretty hard.
I don't care if we dyno, race, tell untruths (lies) or do all of them.
That is my 2 cents worth.
See Ya

Thats good with me, I think that is the weekend Keegan said he had off also. It will great to have your better half back with us safe and sound.

Lets see if we can make that a dyno day and also work on getting a drag day in also.

Keegan:

From me to you,......you are very welcome for the help buddy! As Cris S. said, it was on LONG DAY on Saturday/Sunday morning but we definitely had fun! I passed out when I got home at 5:30 A.M. on Sunday morning!

CONGRATULATIONS on your dyno numbers too. I knew your truck was going to run good. I can't wait to see it on the 1/4 mile.

---------
Whatever you guys decide on the dyno/drag race thing is fine with me. But I am going to try hard to get my truck back to a 1/4 mile track before they close down for the winter like Mike D. pointed out. My goal is the 11's with the Red Ram! I plan to do some checking with "Coastal Plains Dragway" to see what their schedule is for the remainder of the year.

Actually, that is the weekend I was told by my fiancee to keep available. I have to go to a wedding. I guess that's why I thought it was a weekend off(wasted weekend off) But you guys should definately do that if Papa Smurf's better half is coming back. I'm sure she would love to be the one flogging her truck for a change.

No, it's just that I leave in January and I have never dyno'd my set up. I've had fun at the track and if I didn't, I wouldn't go. I would just like to see what I can lie down before I leave. Like I said though, I don't care either way. I can go to Jeff's and dyno on my own. Track or dyno I don't care...

I'm out for Dec 9th as my wife and I are headed to the mountains. She puts up with all of my hunting so I had better be there for a trip she planned. If that is the weekend that the majority can make it then not a problem for me, I'll just catch the group at the next event. Do what works best for the masses. We are running out of dragstrip weekends for the year after all.

I agree that if the next meet is a dyno then Jeff's is central to most and a good all around shop with plenty of room. Can we check with both Rockingham and Fayetteville on their rain policies? Maybe we should try one of them as sometimes the coastal weather seems to be harder to predict. Maybe it has just been the time of year that has hurt our rainouts at CPD.

Looks like Rockingham is showing dates Nov 17-19, and 25, and Dec 2nd and 9th weekends, then nothing until April. I don't see a rain policy on their site.

Fayetteville says test n tune every Sunday 1-5 weather permitting.

So has this thread stalled? The way I see it if we're going to race we have three choices.

Rockingham has a couple of Saturday events with T/T on Friday nights.
Fayetteville T/T on Sunday 1-5
Coastal Plains T/T on Sunday 12:30-4:30

Dyno Shops
Wayne's
Jeff's
The Greensboro shop.

If we were going to do a dyno/race event. The couple of options as I see it would be to schedule with Wayne on Saturday and race on Sunday.

Or we could find a dyno shop close to Rockingham, dyno during the day and race at night during one of their street drag events from 6-11. If you'll notice one of their street drag events falls on the date requested by PapaSmurf to welcome Leigh back from overseas. We would just have to track down a dyno shop close by.

Anyway, I'm just trying to jump start this thread again. Hope I'm not stepping on Phil's toes.

Thats too much for one day. I think that we should do a dyno day for Mrs Smurfs SAFE RETURN Maybe even bring a grill and throw some dead animals on it as Papa Smurf would say

Thats just a thought

Might be doable. If we can get a bright and early start at Jeff's. Depends on how many trucks too I guess. It's not a bad ride to The Rock from there though. What, an hour or so?

Okay,

Just for future reference, I've checked out the dyno shop in Greensboro on Wendover. It's a really really nice place with lots of parking. The dynojet is not recessed into the ground like Jeff's however, which I believe makes it a little more difficult and time consuming to get lined up on. The guys are really nice, but don't dyno many diesels as they tried to tell me I needed to run the rollers in 4th. I did a 4th gear pull and then backed it up with a 6th gear pull that made 40 more horsepower. This place is extremely nice and with most of the bay doors open, the smoke doesn't get too bad at all. So I talked to the managers and they told me for 10 trucks, it would be $50/3pulls and free drinks and hotdogs. I definately liked the place enough that I'll make it my tuning shop for new mods, especially with it being so close.

I'll be setting up a dyno day in the spring for DieselTruckResource, DodgeTruckWorld, and DieselTruckWorld. Oh yeah, and there's an 1/8th mile track not too far down the road called Piedmont that I have yet to check out.

Keegan:

Good job buddy!

That place near you sounds good. Maybe you can set something up before the end of the year and we can all head your way instead of you all having to come our way. Let us know.

Thanks.
