The Wife and I have lots of experience with messes. The original owners of our place had moved to Florida 10 years prior to us buying the place. They had been using it as rental property. All of the fences were down and the pastures were grown up in thorn trees and sassafras. I think I have invested enough money in dozer work to have boughten one. I'll let ya know the next time we head out that way. My truck is over there now getting some upgrades.

Where-bouts are you guys in MO? I just moved to Theyer (not real far from Pistol) from S.E. IL. Lots of Dodge diesels around here, but people aren't very talkative, either. I'd love to find some of the MO guys around here and have some bomb parties and the like. Thought I'd ask and see if any of you are near me.

Jeremy, I live in Mountain Home AR which is about an hour and 1/2 from Thayer. I will be in Koshkonong again this weekend, my grandma just sold her farm and I'm moving equipment back to my place. We'll get together some time. Most people in this area have no clue about building diesels and that is probably because the large majority don't use the Internet like we do, so they don't know about sites like this.

I'm about 35-40 minutes East of Springfield. I live down in the National Forest and I'm pretty much 20 minutes from Ava and 20 minutes from Ozark. Pistol is within an hours drive for me. I do a little racing at the dragstrip in Rogersville and have another friend with an equally fast 2wd Cummins from the Columbia area. I'll let you know the next time I head to the track. I'm hoping to improve on my 12.84 pass with a little liquid air in a bottle. We will have to all get together down at Bull Shoals lake at Froggies for lunch and tire kicking.

Danny, Koshkonong is within spittin distance from here.

If I ever get a clutch in my truck, I'd be up for a dyno day in our area. It'b be nice to get a baseline reading before I get a turbo and sticks.

I've driven thru Thayer a few times....used to spend a lot of time in Jordan Ark.
Mike, gotta tell ya, spent the first full day running the Belaurs yesterday leveling an area of bare dirt and getting started spreading topsoil over it, tractor is great... the 4wd limits the turning radius a bit, but the shift pattern isnt hard to get acustomed to at all.
Definitly let me know when ya come up, we got some steaks in teh freezer and a new grill to try out.....

My truck is going to be delivered back to me this time as he has to pick up another one down here for bombing. That's probably a good thing at the moment. I have a 4 year old gelding that has never been messed with by people to break, a 2 year old black cloud foxtrotter, a 2 year old southern playboy foxtrotter filly, and a 2 year old sensation son stud foxtrotter that are all in for training on the place. And 4 days of rain scheduled this weekend and rain scheduled next weekend also. But I'm glad to see the wetstuff. I was feeding hay by July last year. We also have 6 mares that I know of coming in for breeding. And I'm going to breed 2 of mine next month. I bred one of them last year and she absorbed it after receiving her West Nile Shot. I'm not using that crap on the place anymore. My stud doesn't need it and the mares sure don't with it causing them to loose foals.

hmmm. I've used the WNV on all my mares for the last what 4-5 years... haven't lost a foal yet, but I know there are different schools of thought on it.
Too bad you wont make it up this time.. oh well, I'll have that grill broke in by the time you do make it!
I got 2 inches of rain this morning, just about got the pens for "visiting" horses done, and getting the round-pen area done next weekend, so I should be ready for my guests coming in May. I am rely thinking about getting out of the breaking bizz......I enjoy it, but with the new, much smaller place, I wont be doing more than three a month, and I am not sure thats worth the headaches.
BTW do you focus on teh gaited horses or is all the Foxtrotters a coincidence? got a lady lookin gfor someone who does gaited breeds and I havent done much with them...

I think we just need someone to step forward and "host" a BBQ, they will get to say where and when.....and what everyoen needs to bring.
I wont because I am way to far from teh majority of you guys, plus teh BOSS would kill me......."uh...huney?... a few of the DTR guys are coming over...... you're cookin........"

Well, I've always rode Foxtrotters or mules myself and somehow we end up with a lot of them in here but we do all breeds. That 4 year old gelding I mentioned is a Haflinger. We actually consider ourselves to be mule specialists and do loads more mules than horses. Hince the name Dixie Mule Ranch on our business cards.LOL A lot of the foxtrotters we do are for older folks and kids. I guess there's not many people using natural methods in this area and creating calm relaxed horses. Most still use the tie them to a post and climb on method. We try and create calm animals that will move off pressure and are easy for older people and young kids to handle on the ground as well as in the saddle. I spend probably 80% of the time with the horse on the ground and 20% finishing him off on the trail. We just do trail training although last year I did have to straighten out a 16.2 Quarterhorse that the guy ropes with. It was barn sour and would rear up on him. And of course he would promptly get off. The horse had him trained well. I think the horse was burnt out on being just a roping horse. After I pursuaded him to not be barn sour he actually liked hitting the trail.

i'll be happy to contribute however i can. mike and his horses. hehehe. hmmmm where would be a middle point for everyone? i'm thinkin maybe some mark twain national forest, fourwheelers, and a few grills, near chadwick. good place to ride and camping area. but all that is, is another suggestion. all i know is i'm goin to the 4wheel jamboree in springfield this weekend. the followin weekend there are 3 truck pulls at the same time i need to figure which i'm gonna attend. lead hill, west plains, or mt home. anywho, again with my babbling. i'll shut up now.

your horey huh??????? i'll break out my bicycle and go anywhere there is. all you need is a little bit of stupid and you can do alot of things. since i have more than the average person i tend o be able to move along at a decent pace. horse's don't like me though we have always had a bad past. if i get thowed to the ground i want it to be cause of my own stupidity. water would be nice to meet at, or a float trip.
