Re:Dallas/Fort Worth Dyno Challenge

I'm going out tomorow to order the trophies for this event.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies, and a 4th place plaque.

Door Prizes, coupons, showing of new products, and product trials.

Have fun. The dyno price is a steal, last time I dyno'd, it was $55 for 3 runs. So, now you have $20 to waste in fuel running around town, and at the track.

Merrick Cummings Jr

Hey Don,, I'd like to see that '55. What housing are you utilizing on that turbo? (I thought I'd use big words)

Re:Dallas/Fort Worth Dyno Challenge

You might actually run a better HP number with a '35 or '40 than a '55 since a dyno diosn't load the truck very much, and boost is harder to build.

I'm having second thoughts myself with this new Big Uns turbo setup about running some good numbers on the dyno. I think I'm going to be somewhat dissapionted in what I see,, I have enough fuel, but I need to spol these turbo's on the dyno,, which is going to be a difficult feat.

Re:Dallas/Fort Worth Dyno Challenge

Mike,

blew off the 55? Why? Mine rocks. I can make 60 PSI on the dyno. Not till about 3500rpm though LOL.

Around town it aint the greatest thing in the world, but once it spools it is worth some serious gain in HP. I managed to get 572HP with some serious tuning troubles. Roughly 50PSI @ 3000rpm.

Merrick,

Looks like the dyno will be fun. Are you bringing the 12 valve or the 24?

See ya there.

Re:Dallas/Fort Worth Dyno Challenge

Just an update folks.

I received a call yesterday from David Lott of Diesel Innovations and he plans to attend and dyno. And he may even bring his friend from down south that has a pretty substantial little ride as well.

This adds two more Non-Dodge contenders to the pile and they ought to be good running trucks too.

We have a few GMs lined up as welll as we sent a letter out to 44 GM guys and are awaiting the response. So we should see a good representation for the GM camp as well.

On a side note we will have some toys on hand to try out maybe a tuner for the Dodges, an Edge Evolution for the Fords, and a Quadzilla 215hp Stealth Box for the GMs.

I hope everyone that can attend will make it . I can guarantee that we'll have a blast.

Gotta get smoe work done.

Re:Dallas/Fort Worth Dyno Challenge

Hey guys.

I'm here at Mark's shop, Texas Diesel Works. We got the head off Stack'd-n-Jack'd last night, and have run into a few problems. But it still looks like the fire rings are a go . The previous O-Ringed Block was holding, but, it was weeeping coolant and some compression, which resulted in the head needing to be decked .010, which we will do in about 30 minutes.

Mark and I will be attending with near identical trucks, main difference being 5-speed vs. Auto.
Besides that, I think it will be a hot competition. Both trucks running big twin turbos, Laser Cut DV's, EDM's, and heavily worked injection pumps. All from different sources, and different thinking behind them.
Mark made ~400RWHP with this truck on the dyno at May Madness, i've driven with him on the street, and it's faster than 400RWHP.

I have now revised my guestimated HP number down to about 400-450. Reason being... I don't know if I can get the boost up on the dyno, which will lead to a lower HP number.

Mark said he was expecting a ~600 number. If any of yall rode with him in his ~450RWHP 24V at the dyno day in Lewisville,,, this truck feels alot faster, but, he might run into the same problem as me, not spooling turbos. I dont think he will as those B turbos (B-1, B-2) spool,,, "quickly"

Re:Dallas/Fort Worth Dyno Challenge

Mike, I have an adaptor here. I just pulled it off the mill a week ago. Nice and flat..ready to go. You need a 5" lip flange for the housing to mate up as well.

I have the HX55 that is a protected part number...not in the wild from Holset. Its an OEM part number. Only a handful of them have been sold. Yes, it has a 19 housing, but it uses a larger exhaust wheel than the other 55's, by 5mm.

Re:Dallas/Fort Worth Dyno Challenge

Looks like I am going to be a tad late tomorrow. I just slid the cam in and still have the turbo to get bolted up, build a 5" downpipe, set the valve lash, install the radiator, intercooler, all the hoses, break the cam and turbo in and finally get the exhaust system hung and welded up

Gonna be a long night

Look for me around noonish!

Dirty, sweaty, greasy, metal chunks from porting the turbo sticking in back Don~
