April 14th-Mopar @ the Rock-Aftermath

Well, for those of you that did not attend this event you missed a great time!
This event has always been alot of fun for the DTR Members.

My thanks to all of the DTR Members that made it to this event! I will let each member post what they want on their individual 1/4 mile times etc.
My thanks also go out to Keegan for videotaping many of the runs today.
Hopefully, he will have some video links up for us soon.

My Son, John Jr., (banshee) drove my 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve to our best time ever, AGAIN! Johnner ran a 11.52 @ 118.45 MPH. Good driving buddy!! I had a previous best of 11.76 @ 115.96 MPH. I also want to congratulate Phil Mc Master (Mc Mopar) on a GREAT run in his 1998 Dodge CTD 12 valve running a 12.88 @ 104.6 MPH!! Way to go Phil! Phil and I spent some time last weekend installing a different pump on his truck last weekend and it has made a huge difference.

It was great to see everyone again and to meet some more new faces like DTR Member "dseay".

Well I'm going to attempt to move my post from the other thead to here. Lets see if I can do this right lol . Congrats to Phil and John!

Anyway, copied and pasted:

THAT WAS AWESOME.

Hands down the best part was Johnny Ricer (the orange turbocharged Neon in the last pic... lol at least its a Dodge), who must have made no less than 30 runs against anything he possibly could. Now that guy was getting his money worth.

And whoever had the 5spd. Cummins that finally took down that 6.no-go automatic, you made my day!

Sorry I wasn't there to see you're run Phil... Did John P. show up also? I must have got there a little late , guess some of the diesel stuff started before 6PM.

Sorry I only got 3 pics, but it was really hard to get any good ones because of the stupid delay on this camera.

I was able to finally put my heap on the track and establish baseline numbers that were better than I thought they would be.

Code:
Pass 1 2 3 4
R/T .618 .722 .667 .690
60' 2.059 2.036 2.072 2.060
330' 6.199 6.239 6.283 6.259
1/8 8.452 9.852 9.888 9.863
MPH 68.16 67.59 67.71 67.69
1000' 12.909 13.008 13.030 13.015
1/4 15.563 15.681 15.694 15.692
MPH 84.52 83.96 84.26 83.89
Clearly, I need to practice my reaction times.

My second pass was with Phil Mc Master and I would have smoked him, . . . . . .. but I couldn't keep up.

It was nice seeing everyone again, I had fun.

Keegan:

Good point buddy!! That statement was probably half my fault. Heck, I was right there at the staging lanes looking at the front driveshaft and I promise that thing was turning!! After Johnner "went up in smoke" for the second time, Phil crawled underneath the truck and found the plastic insert on part of the linkage was all "wallowed out" and worn. But,......we will get that fixed this week. We know one thing,.........my 96' Dodge CTD DEFINITELY can't drag race in 2WD!! My rear fenders, wheel wells, mudflaps and chrome exhaust tip were covered in about a 1/16th inch layer of shredded rubber!!

Stuff . . . ..

There were a lot of trucks there representing DTR, DTW, and other groups . . .

Lots of wheel stands . . . .

A jetrail made a couple of passes (he needs to check his KSB) . . .

Once his boost came up, the smoke cleared up nicely . . . .

Of the lot, this was my favorite truck . . .

And this my favorite car (Hudson) . . . .

And this Mopar was VERY fast . . .

A good time for all I think.

Thumbs up

Well I hung around until the end and not one drop of rain fell. It made the whole day well worth the lack of sleep and long drive for me. BTW CHET,,,,, thanks for waking me up or I may have slept all day in the Shoney's parking lot. Believe it or not,,, I really didn't get tired until the drive home and finally gave up when the rain started pouring down at around 1:00am. Headlights started looking fuzzy, so I pulled into a truck stop and slept till 7:15 this morning. I guess the back seat ain't too uncomfortable, plus the sound of the rain on the roof must have put me in a coma!
It was great meeting some new folks and seeing old friends again. Keegan did a great job of organizing and I will sure do my best to make this event again in the future.

I watched the 11.52 run that Johnner made with his Dad's truck and it may even have been quicker if it hadn't tried rippin big chunks of the starting line real estate out! I cringed at the violent launch fearing something was bound to break, but it didn't. That truck is gonna need a roll cage very shortly.

John P.,,, sorry I didn't call but it was around 11:00pm when I left the track and I had to find fuel and my way back to 95. I'll let David post the winners and times so I don't get them wrong.
I still need to work on my reaction time,,,, they had been .195 - .220 all night until the last run and I had to chase down the F-250 that was running 18.somthings,,,,,,, I must of been skeered of redlighting because I ended up with a .668 reaction time that run,,, ,,,, and ran 15.38 on a 15.35 dial-in. So,,, If I hadn't of taken a nap,,,,, I just might have caught him.

Phil, it was nice meeting you and you sure got a fine running truck!
Also, a big "Thank You" goes out to David Dunbar and the entire DHRA crew who make these events happen.
Maybe I can get more of the VA group to attend next time.

To everyone--I had a great time, Dennis it was a pleasure meeting you and putting a face to that name!!

BC847--That first gen of yours runs real good!! You ought to be proud-she looks good too!! That gold Cuda--I spent some time talking to that guy, he has a 408CI small block Mopar-with 20 lbs of boost that thing makes 900HP, in the trim it was running at the track he said it makes 700HP at 15 PSI and ran a 9.4 at 149 MPH , and it idle like a stocker!! AWSOME.

John P--Congrats on that run--11.5s, new Corvettes and Vipers are Dust to you!! And a personal big thanks to you for the help and info on how to make the old White girl run. Thanks to John's vast knowledge of the 12 vlave and his help I set a personal best of 12.8 @104 MPH!! I was all after that run!! Funny thing, while installing the pump two weeks ago John said the truck will run a 12.9, I ran a 12.8-I think JP knows what he is talking about!! Thanks again!! Life has had me running in so many directions it has been 6 years now since I had the Charger running, so the "speed" addiction has faded some, that is until Sat!! Thanks again buddy. Now we need to get Old Blue into the 10's!!!!! Once I get the CTD to replace the 440!!

Mike D, It was good to see you agin buddy, you forgot your CD?? I'll throw it in the mail.

To all the others I did not mention- It was great to see you guys again!!

Hey Phil,

How were your EGTs considering you started pumping even more fuel? I remember you saying at the dyno day that you were having a bit of trouble with temps, but have you got all that resolved?

Yes, I used to have problems, a short burnout or a full throttle run to 60 would have had my EGT's at 1650-1700*F. I added water injection to the old girl, and at the end of the 1/4 I was only seeing 1550. So if anyone asks, use water!! I am not running any meth, I'm afraid of all the timing I have the meth would have taken out the head gasket.
