MYGIG - It can be done (Thanks Pooter)
OK,
First of all........DTR is pretty freakin awesome! If you have a question, someone will answer it if not give you up-to-date text advice in the middle of your project!
Much thanks again to Blake who helped me fill shelves in my shop with (now not needed) miscellaneous Dodge 6.7 parts!
Thanks bud!
And now thanks to Pooter for his detailed instructions for the MYGIG installation!
Since mine was a touch diff from his, i thought i would share my experience!
HOWEVER, my pics are certainly not as good as his especially since my pics are all "post install"
To see Pooters thread, go here: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/d...m-t241743.html
OK, i did my swap in a 2008, megacab with standard 6-disc radio and Sirius subscription.
Tools Needed:
1) Screwdriver (phillips and flat)
2) Small powered screw gun. I'm lazy like that!
3) 3 hands at some point
4) Zip ties
5) Gorilla glue or super glue or some strong adhesive (i used gorilla glue) This will be explained later.
6) Wire cutters/crimpers
Items needed for purchase:
1) NAV Bezel (Part# for my 08 with wood grain is 5JZ131Z2AD) $60 on ebay
2) CoastalEtech.com "Mygig lockpick adapter kit" *****MAKE CERTAIN TO GET THE ADAPTER KIT******
3) Coastatetech A/V in-out wiring harness (if you want to use external DVD, video game console, old beta max player
) and if you want to hook up rear seat LCD's for child viewing of a DVD. This is a high recommendation as my fam and i went on a trip this past weekend while the kids watched Shrek 2 from the Mygig! I was driving and watched about 1/2 of the movie!!! NOT SAFE!!!!!

4) Coastaletech rear camera - might as well since your taking your dash apart!!!
***SIDE NOTE*** entire kit listed above from Coastal was $378.00 ($249 for LockPick adapter, $40 for A/V in-out and $89 for camera)
5) UConnect microphone kit # 82211743AB (your Uconnect will not work with the mygig as it is "inside" the mygig vs. on your rear view mirror) $36 at dealership.
6) Nav antenna for Mygig ($30 on ebay)
7) Sirius radio antenna extension cable (#05064159AE - $25 at dealership) The Mygig has Sirius "built in"! If you currently have sirius in your truck, your receiver is behind the glove box and current cable WILL NOT reach!
Since the dealership did not have this in stock and i am one impatient SOB, i went to best buy and purchased a 50' sirius ext cable by Monster for $49.00. IT WORKED!
8) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY ---------- THE MYGIG---------- IMPORTANT! The Mygig that you purchase MUST BE A LOW SPEED MYGIG. Once you find a Mygig, check the part number and reference here:
http://www.wkjeeps.com/MyGIG_parts.htm
OK THIS IS GETTING LONG BUT STAY WITH ME!!!
Here are the following steps for removal/installation!
1) Remove old bezel. There are NO SCREWS in my 08. Use a screw driver (gently) and look below each of your 12v power outlets on left/right side of bezel. Look for small slits below each 12v and place screwdriver in and pry it to pop loose the tab on each side. Once those are popped out, just grab and gently work your way around the entire bezel.
2) Remove harnesses from each of the items on old bezel. A/C, Seat heaters, jake brake, etc....... Don't worry, you can not plug them in wrong as each are designed to not fit in another slot!
3) Remove 4 screws from radio and pull out!
4) Remove wire harness and AM/FM Ant from rear of radio
5) Take 1 lime and cut into quarters, gently squeeze into an ice cold Bud Lite Lime bottle. I know, sounds kind of fruity but i like it
6) Open glove box to full open position. Gently squeeze one side at a time to get the rubber stops away from sides and remove glove box. Once removed, look behind and above and you will see the SAT Rcvr. Remove the mustard colored plug (this is your cable that comes from your Sat antenna). You will need to extend this to your radio slot with Dodge part# 05064159AE.
***If you elect to go with the long Monster Cable then do the following:
Follow the antenna cable which will eventually end up behind the bottom right panel of the passenger right foot side! Just gently pull the the plastic molding away from the side and it can wedge in front of on of the A/C blowers. This will give you a good view of where the 2nd connection is! Unplug that connection and then plug in your monster ext into that and tuck all slack behind that molded piece.
Also, use zip ties to keep the connection together right there as the connection will appear to be a bit loose!!!
7) Use screw driver again to pop loose the long panel on the top part of your dash. This is the piece that extends from far left to far right on your dash and meets the glass. This exposes all of your speakers and will allow you to run your Mygig micropohne to you overhead console if you choose! (further instructions will also come with the microphone kit)
8) Routing rear camera cable! ***NOTE*** make CERTAIN you run the correct side or you'll have to do it all over again! IF you do this, like i did, please go back to step 5!
There is only 1 spot, that i could see, that you can route this cable. If you look under the drivers side behind and above the brake pedal, you will see an oval opening held in with 2 nuts. Loosen nuts (A LOT) but not all the way out and from the engine side, push cam wires into opening and pull just enough slack through to reach radio! THIS BARELY REACHED TO THE REAR OF MY TRUCK WITH ONLY INCHES TO SPARE!!!!!! So don't take too much slack at the radio side!
Continue down and below the truck and follow the other cables to rear of truck. Attach camera, power and your good.
9) Install new NAV antenna. My truck had a speaker where the antenna was "supposed" to go, so i just put some double sticky tape at the bottom of it and placed it on top of one of the black a/c vents behind radio. There is only plastic above the antenna at that location and it works JUST FINE!
10) NOW...........you should have the following cables hanging out of your radio slot. 1) Microphone, 2) Nav antenna (BLUE) 3) old AM/FM antenna 4) Sat ext cable
11) Install the LockPick as per their instructions! 5 minutes tops! BUT....read their instructions entirely first to make certain that the dipswitches are set correctly.
***I think i need to go to step 5 RIGHT NOW****
12) Custom fitting your Mygig to the NAV bezel!
This may take the longest and be the most tedious so have patients young one!
OK, your Mygig is too small for your new NAV bezel on the top and bottom.
First you will have to two little rubber type pegs on the back side of the Mygig in order for it to fit in your radio slot!
NOW, you are going to have to MAKE some small plates that will be glued to the top and bottom of your new bezel! (LOOK AT POOTERS POST). You can do it your own creative way but here's what i did!
I took the Mopar box that the bezel came in and cut a hole the Mygig will fit into. I slid the Mygig in the box and then rested the bezel on top to simulate the actual installation! I then took a measurement for the openings and marked them on a stiff piece of plastic. Cutable, but stiff! I then took a razor and trimmed out the piece and tried to work it into the slot! Once i had a nice fit, i traced it onto a thin piece of metal. (you can use what you want or what you think might be easier for you) I then took a grinder and (perfectly i might add
) ground the metal down to the exact fitting with minor repeated grindings to get it perfect. I then painted and let dry.
REPEAT FOR BOTTOM PIECE.
13) Now that you have put each piece into place MULTIPLE time making certain that your new trim piece does not impede with any of the buttons (especially at the bottom) you can now glue your pieces to the bezel!
It is now time to go back to step 5!
OK, this was a booger! I had a hard time keeping the pieces tight together but thankfully after trial and much error, i got it tight with some small clamps.
I used Gorilla Glue and it worked great.........HOWEVER.....once you put the glue on the reverse side and let it sit overnight, some of it will seep through the cracks to the front side and expand like a MOTHA! So be careful with that part. I had to sort of trim off pieces of dried glue on my nicely painted plate and had to re-sand and re-paint and the second time did not come out nearly as nice as the first!
14) Use this "drying" time to finish installing your Mygig into the truck and connecting all the wires. Turn on the mygig and see if it all works!
The only thing i had slight trouble with was the AM/FM connection! It seemed a bit too loose with the supplied adapter from coastal therefore i tapped it as tight as i possibly could and i then got am/fm to work!
SLIGHT REVISION! You might want to do steps 12 and 13 first. Either way, it's a good idea to let that thing set up overnight for proper drying!
Enjoy and let me know if you have questions!

Looks Great! Awesome write up too. Should go in the tech articles.
I really love the my gig. It will be in my next truck.
Id put one in my mega, but Id have to go with a JL clean sweep just to get the inputs to the amps, and for the quality too. It just makes more sense for me to do aftermarket.
Sure do love playing with it in Worms truck and in the wifeys Durango.
