Off the subject, but you guys won't FREAKIN BELIEVE THIS S@#%!!!! On my way home tonight, about 10 miles from home, if that far. On the 4 lane towards Lawrenceburg, near the Maury County airport. In the right lane, cruise set on 65(speed limit) listening to Phil Valentine. Had the trailer with me with two engine blocks secured at the nose and a bed full of old gears, rotors, aluminum, lead wheel weights....about 400 pounds of those heavy suckers.
So I check my mirrors, see a guy in a yellow jeep coming up at the rear of the trailer. Listen to the radio and all of the sudden....yep, you guessed it.....
BBBLLLLLLAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!! Pinch the seat yet again and look in my mirror and see this yellow jeep kissing my trailer just in front of the first axle, where my spare tire is mounted. His back end is angled away from the trailer and I see sparks flying off the left front of the jeep.....where........ahhhhhh....his front tire should be???
I whip to the right to get him off me, then concentrate on the road so I don't run over some unsuspecting bike rider or something. I get stopped and see a cloud of dust as he plows off the road into the dirt. I get out, very mad....
cussing.....look at the carnage, thump my hand off the toolbox for some disbelief relief and walk on up towards the jeep wreckage where I am met halfway by the other driver. Both ok, he said, "my wheel flew off". I told him I saw the sparks and knew what had happened. Another guy came over and was an off duty officer from the Buro and said he saw the whole thing....thank goodness, witnesses, unlike my runin several weeks ago with the illegal......south of the border fella.
He said the boy did a good job of keeping the jeep off the truck. I knew he was at the back of the trailer, but did not know he had gotten to the side of the truck. I don't think he did cause I was watching until just before it happened.
So I look at the trailer and get out the tools to remove my new dead carlise tire with the holes in the side of it. Figure, what the heck, I'll go check out the carnage on his jeep. The driver side tire was about150 yards away on the opposite side of the road. The right front tire had a huge hole in it from my trailer gutting it. I told the guy he was lucky, with the 33" tires and lift kit on the jeep that he did not roll over, he agreed and said that was what he thought was gonna happen. I think I was there for a reason, if I was not there and him doing 70mph, front wheel comes off and it goes to the right hard....I think he would have rolled several times. Now, me in this unfortunate equation, tire goes bye, bye, he goes to the right, my trailer relieves the air pressure in his right front tire and levels off the front end to avoid some roll bar testing on a jeep.
Trailer and operator are fine. Shifted my engine blocks about 1.5 feet. Yes, they were strapped down. All these hits from the left, I need one from the right to throw my back into place!!
Better not say that, I'll get the truck out of the body shop and get creamed by a trailer truck!!

Holy crap, I motion to have Dodgeguy voted out of this group. Its only a matter of time before his bad luck starts rubbing off on all of us. All in favor say aye?
AYE!!
Just kidding. Man it sucks when stuff like that just keeps happening. Maybe this is the last one of the streak and you are home free from here on, I hope at least. I guess it doesnt matter what happens as long as you are ok. We can replace the truck and trailer.

Bad thing is I drive this same road and have for the the last 4-5 years and put 150,000 miles on my saturn without even a flat tire! 18 years of driving and nothing.......then....maybe I have to go find me a witch doctor or something to do whatever
Man!!! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one here with bad luck lately
. Sux real bad this seems to keep happening to you though.
I sure hope more people sign on for the dyno event by the 1st, if not we'll have to cancel it. I thought for sure we would easily get 10 rigs to sign on but only 3 so far
. If this doesn't pan out, loks like Abby's idea for the next meeting location sounds like a good deal.

Im trying. I got my 64 running yesterday and I am going to be putting a lot of time and money in it. But I sure would like to see how much that edge really gives my truck. By the way I have tried about 1000 codes so far for the hot code and nothing. It could be the next one though never know. Dodgeguy you would have really puckered up if that would have happened right after the body shop.

Dodgeguy, I'm just curious and glad you're OK by the way. Did you determine why his LF came off? Loose nuts on or behind the wheel? Was he listening to an old country favorite on the radio? Come on guys, someone knows the title to that old country song about the guy driving down the road and having his tire fall off. Anybody want to jump in here?
I think you are refering to "Uneasy Rider" there slowpoker, I mean streetsmoker. It makes reference to a tire going flat, not a tire and wheel coming off.
Someone please correct me if'n im wrong

Actually, I was thinking of a "take" on another song. You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel,
going fast down the highway with a leaky rear seal, you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel.

I was actually checking out his wheels and wheel studs as he was trying to jack the front end up.....Just by looking it did not seem like his studs were long enough when compared to the aluminum wheel he had on there. Not to sure if he or someone had the wheel off recently. I know I did not see one lug nut and it did not look like 5 broken studs. Who knows though, all that weight hanging off the end of those axles like that is not good, not designed for that and all that.
Now today my trailer slid off my blocks under my jack leg and the weight in front of the trailer made it slide and it bent the jack so it would not go down or up.....
Good thing for low range, drug it out of the hole and finished off the jack, then used a bottle jack and wood to get in hooked to the truck so I could bring it up to the house for tire replacement, my original intention. Now it's tire replacement and jack replacement....
Got a pile of steel a show dog could'nt jump over and need to haul it off....gotta find me a job where I don't have to do all this side s@*t to make a living!
