So I need to pack my bags and head up there to do some tree clean up. What did you say your address was??? Oh and your kids could help that way they wouldn't have time to complain. I never did hear if the lake areas had significant damage.

In all seriousness I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to contact Co-Mo and Ameran to see about helping out. Not sure what they'd pay and if you'd have to be "special certified" to help them.

This pretty much sums it up...

Yea, it wasn't as bad down here as it was in Jan. We got lucky there. SOme of us lost power though I didn't but the storm ain't over yet. You never know what the weather is going to do here.... Just in time for me to go back to PA for the holidays and a job at a company that wants me to install a full security system because people have been stealing stuff. Just when I get a chacne to make money, I can't leave!

Well, as of right now, we've got a quarter inch of ice on teh roads, the main track of the storm is staying west of my area, so it aint gonna hit here as hard as they thought it might, but the news is reporting 17 deaths so far due to teh ice( in Oklahoma and SE KS) and huge areas without power already....

Chris .... are the deaths mainly due to auto accidents or are people freezing to death ??

Mrs. Pistol has the fireplace stoked and said there is no ice at the house yet ... neighbors (1/8 mile away) had ice this AM.

Mike how are things down at your place ??

You boys out in Versailles snuggle up ... we won't take pictures (where'd I put that link to youtube .....) ... honest . Hope you get power soon. You guys need anything from us ??? Hollar if you do.

Pistol we had a little ice on the trees but nothing major. It was 48 degrees this morning when I got up. I heat with wood and cook with gas and the horses have a pond and there is a nice spring across the road so doing without electricity doesn't affect us as bad as the folks in town. We're just barely considered civilized society out here in the sticks anyway.

We're alive... I'm at work and we just got power back here at the plant. Most areas are still dark. Those that still had power last night find themselves in the dark this morning. About 11:30 p.m. or so everybody went down. I'm still running 759023753 watts of stuff on a 2cycle 1,000 watt generator at the house. My heater setup is still workin through and last night we had it 65 in the house. Yesterday we had power for all of 3 min and it was long enough to start filling a bathtub and flush the toilets. No house damage (knock on wood), limbs down everywhere in the yard though. But we're doin' ok so far. Tonight sounds like it might get ugly again. It's above freezing and raining right now which is helping to melt some of it off. Thanks for the thoughts guys, so far me and the family are doin' fine. The Dodge is all kinds of hacked off though.... he's sitting outside and isn't liking it.

My boss called me this morning while I was warming up the truck and told me not to come in. A while later I got a call from another employee from another department and his boss told him to come in. I don't think the storm hit the KC area as bad as it was first thought. But it's not over yet. It is supposed to rain all day and fall below freezing later this afternoon and possibly turn into snow.

I worked in Joplin most of the day. Messed up like is was in Springfield last January. Sounds like I might have to go north and help up there though. Just got to finish what I've already started here.
