I only drive my truck on the weekends now, and spend most of my time in one of my vw tdi's.

I bought a Smarty Jr for my truck this summer, and want to install an egt sensor one of these days, followed by a larger turbo. I love the power, but don't want to cook anything.

Glad to hear your rust repair is holding. I was quoted about 600 to fix the typical dodge rust hole in the right rear fender. Not sure if i should fix it soon, or wait til spring.

Btw, I had to replace my rusty oil pan. Ouch.

Chris

I drive my truck nearly everyday. I am not far from work, which is great. 5" lift is working like a charm. I am thinking about toning down exhaust a little.

I hope everybody is doing well.

Peace!!

I think I have put 300 miles on my truck since August when I drove it home last. The twins are working great, have yet to find anything I can put on my trailer that I can not pull at highway speeds or a little over. I am however cleaning out my stockpile of spare parts I have accumulated over the years. If you think I might have something you are interested in check craigslist, there is one add titled Cummins CR, 24v, and 12v parts with what I have left. Mostly injectors CP3, and sensors with the odd part here or there.

Stupid Question

What tool is used to remove the stock MAP sensor? All my sockets seem too big or too small? Mine throws a code every once in a while and I have the cummins replacement (which takes an 18mm I think) but the one in the engine seems to be a slightly different size?

Mine throws a crank position sensor code every now and then, but the check engine light goes out after a few restarts...
I didn't think our trucks even had crank position sensors... I know there is a cam position sensor.....

Wow it lives! There's activity in the chapter thread.
Keith i'm not sure what size socket it takes. Your welcome to come over and i'll have a go at it for you.
John what's happening? I can send your gauge mount if you PM me a mailing address. It'll ship UPS so need to know if Residential or Commercial address.
Big news, my Dad has given me his 35' Montana fifth wheel. The catch is i have to go to Colorado to get it. Be making the trip in the spring. Gotta get the truck ready. Think my Mach 3's are too big for towing that big camper so probably gonna put the DD2's back in and sell the Mach 3's. Any thoughts on the injector size and my 35/40 turbo match up?

Scott, I need to come up and hang for a few anyways, so I will get my panel at that time.....
I will also be getting a tank sump as soon as cash comes in. We can install it there, right.? Easier on a lift than on the ground....

Let me know if Sunday (before the game obviously) works for you Scott. I've already got a bunch of plans for Saturday. If not no big deal since I don't really drive it much any more.

Battery issues....

Howdy everyone!!

I hope everyone had a great end year and new year.

Having some battery issues. I have been off work from a back injury so the truck has sitting 2-3 days at a time between starting. When I attempt to start it either drags or doesn't start.

I had this issue a month or so earlier. I cleaned all the terminals, checked fluid levels and put anti corrosive spray on terminals. It seemed to correct the problem, but it is reoccurring now.

I have 5 years on these batteries and I have a mostly short hop driving habit. I know this can lessen the life of a battery. All this being said I really think it is time to replace them.

The million dollar question.... Which battery around here is the best to go with?

I have read a lot and leaning towards the Diehard/Duralast Platinum (made by same maker). Both are deep cycle.

Diehard - 930 CCA and higher price
Duralast - 775 CCA and $50 less

Not real set on brand yet so any info would be great.

Thanks Peace!!

We shall see.

Peace

I'm running the Duralast yellow tops for quite a while. I've replaced them once under warranty.
Keith let me know if you still want to do the Map one day.

MAP is finally done - replacement was 1 1/16 (from cummins) but the original was 1 1/4 - had the socket the whole time in my tool box!

Next project - blower motor in the Civic - intermittent currently. Guess it never ends.
