My DD broke down, anyone have a scan tool?

Hey my jeep broke down tonight, i was cruising and it started bucking like the tranny was shifting but it turned out to be the motor cutting in and out...by 4 miles later it was undrivable and getting worse. I ended up nursing it to a local food joint and parking it til I could get it home with the trailer.

I had been throwing a CEL for a bad crank position sensor but this is not related to that. it will start and if i hold it at 2-3k it will run but let it drop down, or put it in gear and it will stall and not run.

a buddy suggested fuel pump but i can hear it running...doesnt mean its pumping fuel tho. i gotta check FP in it.

any other ideas, i know some of you have jeeps with 4.0 motors

I've seen this twice before....Once it was the crank sensor and the other was a bad battery...

looks like im putting a crank sensor in it then...i didnt think it would be it tho cause it will start and run at certain rpms but just wont stay running.

and the battery is only 8 months old, and its good.

i hear the CPS on a 4.0 is a pain

How did you clear the Code RollinCoal? With the right scan tool or just unhookin the battery. My POS Jeep I had never liked anything but the DRBII to clear codes....
