either that or i am really starting to think about your offer, and just buy the rebuild kit from DTT, converter and valve body from goerend, and the one piece billet input shaft and get you to rebuild it.

that metal looks like it surely wasnt hardened correctly. looks like you had more than one issue going on there. centrifugal breaks on hardened steel usually sheer clean off looks like it was almost cut with a saw sometimes. have alot of evperience with that from drag racing and snapping axles...LMAO guess the bullit just makes too much power...LOL sux all that stuff broke

well sonnax shafts are tested to like 1000 ft*lbs of tq lol and i'm sure that's what HTS used. yeah i know they look more like when tj snapped his transfer case output shaft. i took metallurgy in college and broke different metals and studied them.

Tonneau work

Guys
Who is good with convertable tops and tonneaus? I bought an Extang Tool Box Tonneau but it's too long with my cab rack, I need to shorten it 9.5 inches. So I need the Tonneau shortened by 9.5 inches.

Where is the best place to buy a Smarty?

Well, I got my muffler, wheels and tires on...
So I think next will be a Smarty.
Seen them all over the net for $685

Any recommendations on where to buy from?

TIA

Tom any one of the local trim shops should be able to do it. I'll ask Glenn who made his top for the Caddy.

Check all the classifieds on all the diesel sites. They are always for sale used.

yeah you should be able to find a used one for 500-550 on any diesel forum. Wouldn't pay full price for something that really isn't considered used lol, doesn't take any abnormal wear and tear.

Got the insurance check today so Friday I will be driving out just south of Pittsburg to pick up the new (used) bed, order the bumper, then hope to have it all on soon. Hate driving with the broken tail light, but it has been nice driving the jeep again.

I have seen a couple here and there over the last couple months, however those were not the "POD" AS I understand it now, the new Smarty sold now all have the "POD" so is the POD worth the extra $$$

being able to punch in a number and instantly change the power level on your smarty is well worth it to me vs. pulling over, shutting down the truck, waiting 5-6 minutes for the ECm to reflash (possibly having to pull fuses to get it to load properly)

You know, imagine you are driving on a low level so you can save fuel and a pesky powerstroke owner comes up next to you and thinks he is gonna beat you to the lane merge, you can raise the power and show them up, or you get beat and give excuses like "well if I had my smarty on 9 instead of 3"

its not really the level you are changing say going from 5 to 9, its a percentage thing that you are only running on 40% of the power on level 9 and then jump it to 100% if you want to play. The power is not very linear when using it and when i use it on the smarty jr and say take level 3 down to 50% the truck just runs like crap and shifts like crap. So like Travis said i wouldn't recommend it. And something that freakin big being plugged in all the time will just make for a big hassle. Now if they had it were you can actually select the program on the fly like switch 5-9 on the fly then yeah would be worth it
