if that head already comes decked, magnafluxed for cracks, and comes with new valves etc then i would def go that route.

Been there done that..
Unless you really do some major port work a quick cleanup and bowl port does not really warrant the cost to do it.We acid ported the head first, benched it then did a basic port(cleanup and bowl port) and then went all out and found that while you may gain a tad in flow or egt reduction the costs will not offset the gains. To really make the head flow for better egt control and power you need to lop off the intake and go with a redesigned sheetmetal intake and that cost would scare you.

I will have to look around I may have the other half of that head here somewhere if you want to see for yourself what you find........Andy

Yeah, I went the lop off the intake route. I don't even want to know how much money I have into that.

i'm not looking at porting my head he is just wanting to port some and flow test them so he can play and see what he can do. he builds gas and alcohol dragster engines all the time. he is wanting to get into playing with the diesels a little more he does cummins engine work for the watermen here in maryland
