ABS and Brake lights on
O.K. Here is the story......
Driving to GFs house near Upper Marlboro, Md.
Driving down Rte 301 south, traffic comes to a stop..... Hit the brakes and the pedal feels softer than normal and goes lower than it ever has....
Didn't see the idiot lights for about 30 minutes due to sitting in bumper to bumper traffic and not really needing to pay attention to dash or speedo...
When I saw the lights, I was thinking ABS sensor or computer....
Checked on this forum when I got to GFs house and everything pointed to the speed sensor on the rear diff or a broken rear brake line..
Checked the truck for fluid and there was nothing at or near the rear of the truck.
No codes.
So I looked around and found a brake fluid leak near the drivers front wheel. Specifically on the front control arm.
So, I have a broken brake line at the front of the truck.
Replacing the part is no problem, but getting one might be..
So here is the question......
Has anyone had to purchase this part and do you have an approximate price on it????
Can this item be purchased or produced through the aftermarket or does anyone know of a shop that can make brake hard lines???
Let me know what you have because the truck is obviously useless like this....

I found most hard lines can be bought at local auto parts stores, but you will need to shape them....Dealers want out the butt for their prebent lines if avaivble.

Yeah Scott and I made one for the '95 a while back, usually they come in 6" increments and have a few different end sizes. We combined two lines to get the ends needed and it cost maybe $5.

You can make your own lines, if need be.
Not all too difficult, just need the right tools.
Tubing Cutter, flaring tool, and a tubing bender if you want it to look nice.
Most auto part stores carry brake hard line in various lengths.

It is not like you are hand rolling the line from a chunk of metal. All you have to do it bend it, cut it to fit, flare the ends, and put it on the truck. They are very simple parts to make. If you do not feel comfortable doing your own line take it to a shop, but you should be able to fix it yourself. Harbor Freight sells everything tool wise that you need. Make sure you get a double flare kit and not a single flare kit since Dodge uses a double flare.
As far as using the lines off of Leonard's 05, good luck with that I think that you are better off getting new since there is a major body and frame difference between the two.

I have had to replace lines in a couple old trucks I had back up north.
After awhile some of the lines get rusted from road salt and give out.
just have to get the right length and bend it to shape.
if you're lucky and the parts store have one that is the right length, then you dont have to cut and re-flare it.

Shoot me a PM with your address and your number. I'm right up the road in Glen Burnie Accross from Outback. I think, all depends on work, I could swing by Thrusday Night for a Few Mins. I leave for Vacation Friday Night. Maybe Even tomorrow night for a Few...All depends on the weather and work.
