Well, I finally scored a charge air cooler for old moldy . It's from a 2006 Dodge. It's got the metal end tanks, all the piping, hump hoses and t-bolt clamps. I've got some fabbing to do, but there's a lot to work with...plus I've got the true 3'' intake horn from a frieghtliner that I bought from BGilbert some months back. This thing is fricken HUGE---gonna have to pull out the hot wrench to get it in there Snapped a quick pic next to a 5 gal. fuel can for reference....This pretty much blows my bomb budget 'till next year (not that that's saying much ), but hopefully it'll get me closer to my goal of being able to plant my foot in it with 8k in tow and not have to be glued to the pyro Oh, that dent in the top isn't an air passage, just some framework--I was in a panic for a second when I saw that

Well, the plan is to get the thing physically in there and then work on the plumbing. The hood latch support is right in the way and will have to be 'altered' somewhat. Other than that, being that I'm without A/C and all that, it should nestle in there quite nicely. I'm sure I'll be busy with the tape measure between helpings of turkey tomorrow

I have one of those sitting patiently in my shop, too. The biggest problem I see is that the IC is wider than the frame rails, and the height causes an interference problem. I was going to have mine shortened to fit the existing height above the frame, but I am still looking for options.

Wow, that is cheap!!! I guess I will need to wait til my friend with an '06 is looking away...

Should be a fun project with the blue wrench and a welder. I'm also interested to see how much of a difference will make in your EGTs.

My daily driving EGTs are very reasonable, but once I've got more than 4k behind me, I'm toast on most of the hills around here. Granted, I'm a pansy and don't sustain over 950 pre turbo when towing. When playing I can hit 1500 in 4th. To tell the truth, I forgot about the height problem with the 3rd gen i/c's hopefully I can just notch the frame if it comes to that...I don't think it's holding much more than the front bumper at that point anyway

950 pre when towing? is that because of all the timing or what?
