Someday A New Back Yard!

Howdy from North Central Oregon. Y’all have seen the commercial “Someday a new Backyard”…scene is of a large dog playing with a ball in a cramped galley style kitchen. Well someday….my 1989 F-250 XLT 4x4, 460 EFI, 5 spd manual, will be a Cummins!

Welcome to the DTR!

Do you already have a motor picked out for the swap?

Make sure to keep us updated with some pictures and such in the Cummins Conversion Forum.

The time line isn't in the very near future. I'm eye balling the economy as I'm retired, fixed income and this would be out of pocket.

But I'm looking very hard at a 12v 94-98, w/P7100, and maybe the Nv4500 manual? I'm looking to stay stock and was advised this combo would be able to pull my 10,000 lb. GVW bumper pull hay trailer up a 6% grade at sixty mph with little or no strain? Was advised I might need to fiddle with the fuel plate and maybe fiddle with the P7100.

What I know about diesels you could put in your eye and not even know it was there. But I'm reading and learning as much as I can. I have so much catching up to do!

I need to also find out if my 5 spd, trans in my F-250 could handle that Cummins engine? If someone would be so kind to point me there... I'd go make a seperate post? Thanks for the welcome.

"Looking to stay stock" I think we all started out that way Its a very short and slippery slope from --- well, maybe just a little more power---------. Sounds like a fun project anyway. Welcome. Lots of good info here
