New from Alaska
Hello,
I have used forums for a couple of years modding snowmobiles. However, recently I realized that I have neglected my tow vehicle for far too long. I have had my 2nd gen for 9 years and like everything but the trany. I was condsidering upgrading pickups but I just can't let this one go. It has 290,000 miles and still running strong, plus everything still works inside and out. I live in AK. Snowmobile in the winter and pull a 28' 5th wheel in the summer. I look forward to talking with you.

Welcome to DTR. You'll be amazed at the wealth of knowledge here. Don't get too worried if all you seem to read about is bad news...that's when most folks ask for help, and it's usually what we see. There's also bunch of good info on maintenance and repairs that will keep your truck running for another 300K miles.
When I'm not playing in the sandbox I live in Wasilla. Originally hit Fairbanks in '95 for a 24-month tour, left in '03 and finally made it back in '07. Probably have to leave again, which just makes coming back all that much better!

Thanks everyone. I live in Anchorage. Started in Wasilla when I first moved here, but the commute got the best of me. I sure miss the Valley and leave the city as much as possible going both North and South.
[QUOTE=snoyes;2361052]Turnagain Arm got snow this year? How's Petersville and Eureka looking? Miss riding, had some great times out there. Someday I may get back there again...[/QUOTE
Illinois from what I remember isn't the best place for a sled. I hope you are able to ride your Rev at least on the flats? Stinks to have a machine and not be able to use it.
Petersville got hit early this season with about 3 feet in October/November. Eureka again this year has very little snow about 18" when I was up there mid Dec. South areas had just enough snow to ride, then we got a 2 week long cold spell -25F in Anchorage, that piled on the frost. So avys were pretty dangerous. Turny had a couple pretty serious slides in Dec. Last week it warmed up to 50's and junked out what snow we had statewide. Did make it to Cantwell last week for what seemed to be a spring ride, 40F heavy wet snow. Even roasted a few belts and got stuck. Cold again now and have a excellent base when the snow comes again.
