Kinda new to Cummins got some questions
Whats up guy ive had my 05 2500 since may and i have a few simple questions... first off when cold weather hit me my thermostat started sticking so i replaced that(easiest thermostat ive ever changed btw) about a week after that the truck will start idling up to 1000 rpm at random times while at idle.. a couple weeks after that my water pump goes up, which i can understand since i have 98000 and it as the origonal water pump, so i replaced that. It still does the same thing im wondereing if that is normal or not, it does it even when its warmed up to 185 or so....
Second is something its done since i got it, if im at an idle and give it gas up to any RPM it will hang there for a a few seconds and stutter down to normal idle. this is my first diesel but ive driven diesel truck for about 5 years and ive never seen anything like it (none of them were a cummins) im not sure if its normal or what... any input would be appreciated
other than those small concerns i love my truck and like embarrasing people that think their car is hot **** with the awesome torque of the CUMMINS
any suggestions and input would be great. btw the truck is stock except for the silencer ring has been removed lol

What's Up!
The RPM's going up when it's cold sounds like high idle, which is necessary to prevent incomplete combustion.
The hanging RPM's is normal as well on the common rails. Why, I'm not a 100% sure, but mine does it...maybe try a search on it!
