Hello from Md.

New to THIS forum. Have truck in signature. Looking to buy a 07-09 Mega cab dually. Currently doing some home work on auto vs manual. Def want to do mods but learned hard way with 48re after a few rebuilds from hard use of the bullydog. Don't do any towing to speak of, so leanig towards a manual but they are very hard to find in or near Md. Happy new year everyone!!

Welcome to DTR...

There are a few debates regarding manual VS auto...I always think that big trucks should be manual trans, but then again, I grow up on a farm and everything was manual trans..

Welcome to DTR!

Megas with manuals will be hard to find. Most are used as family haulers and women don't like to shift their own gears (there are exceptions of course).

For towing, stick-shifts seem to get the nod. For racing or general hot-rodding, autos seem to be preferred although building one to hold the power is expensive, $4k and up.

Thanks everyone...Little luck on the manual, so probably going with the auto. Have my sights on an 08 w 53k. As a general rule how much over stock can the auto trans handle. I don't want to learn the hard way like on my current 06 (3 rebuilds later) first two back to stock (one covered under warranty, last fully built at $4500..had to pay to play. Any way you guys that have been there done that with the 6.7s I'll take any advice. Just looking to add a "little power" nothing like blowing the doors off others with a big truck..
