Hello from Charlotte
Hey Everyone,
My name is Thomas and I'm currently in Charlotte, NC. I am looking into buying a diesel dodge and was hoping to get some advice/info from you guys. I am not totally new to diesel trucks but I have never owned one before.
The trucks that interest me are the 94-02 vintage. I know there is a difference between the 12 valve and 24 valve engines but aside from that I don't know much. I guess my biggest decision is whether i want a 94-98.5 or a 98.5-02.

BTW I'm a mechanical engineer who likes to tinker so I'm not afraid of some work.

Welcome to DTR, i would say get a 98 12V, being that you will like to tinker with it that would be the best motor to tinker with. you can turn a few wrenches and spend only a few bucks and get alot more out of that old 12V over the newer motors, but the newer ones you can plug in a box or programmer and add alot, so its realy what you would like to do....
