Hey all. My name is Ian. I'm new to forums, new to diesels ( somewhat ).
I've got a '06 TDI that I love, and a '86 Toyota 4x4 that burns oil, gets crappy mileage and isn't great on power or torque...

So..I'm looking for info on a reliable Diesel replacement for the Toyota. I do landscaping for work, and like to take camping/diving trips up north in CA for relaxation. I'm hearing good things about first gen. CTD's, but a buddy of mine swears by his Ford's 7.3L V8...

I'm planning on running BD in it, so something after mid '80s be best ( or so I hear ), might need to do minor hauling, but mostly I want something I can drive 500mi round trip ea. weekend over the summer and not be working on all the time.

$5k-7500 or less would be nice, could poss. go higher but it'd be a stretch.
I also should have mentioned that I'd like an Extended or Crew cab for the camping trips, but I also don't want what I call "A big EDIT truck". I know, asking a lot for a little
I considered a Intntl.Havester ScoutII w/SD33T but...I worry about 1) under power/torque and 2) finding parts for a 30+yr old machine.
