Hello

Its been a bad year so far, and yesterday we took the steps to rectify the poor year. Let me start from Feb 11th.
I found my brother, age 46 deceased at his home. My parents had just arrived in Yuma the day before for there annual month long visit with my 5th wheel. I had to call them and tell them.
He was Retired Air Force, as I am, and he had no wife or children. By state law my parents get the estate, and he was wise enough to have a life insurance policy. I mentioned to dad, he could get a new truck. His truck is a 1990 F250 with a 460. We tow a 28' Keystone Cougar with it (he owns the truck, I the 5'er and we share)
Yesterday we went to the dealership and ordered a 2008 Dodge Bighorn 2wd with the 4-doors (not the mega cab) and the 6.7 with the 3:73 rear end. It is going to be the bright blue color.
Dad is ecstatic, this is a great gift from his oldest son to him. We plan to have custom mud flaps made and a mural on the tailgate to honor my big brother.

So here we are, A die hard ford family, getting our new tow vehicle. Sadness with a bit of sunshine peeking through.

Hello to all.

Steve

Sackett:

On behalf of all of the Administrators here on DTR, we are VERY SORRY to hear about your Brother Richard! Also,.....with much sadness for you, welcome to the website! I was in the Air Force during the Vietnam years and let me personally say "thank you" to you and your brother for all of your years of service! Your brother was way too young for this to have happened Sir! It is tough anytime you lose a family member like that and I know because it has happened to me too. Alot of our Administrators here are current or retired military and we have alot of military DTR Members too!

Anyway, welcome abaord and we hope your new truck can bring your family some joy. Let us know if there is anything we can do you for you.
Take care and good luck to you and your entire family!

-----------
Sincerely,

John_P

Talking New Truck almost here!!!!

I hadn't posted anything since our intro, but we still officially didn't have a truck yet. We were told it was in Portland 2 days ago, we expect it today or tomorrow!!!! (Dad doesn't know the truck is this close.)
If loosing my brother wasn't enough, my father-in-law is in the hospital, the cancer has returned and there is little hope. 2008 has been a sucky year so far. I hope the truck can cheer us up a bit.
When the truck gets in, I will post a picture as soon as I can!
