Greetings from Kasilof, Alaska
I'm happy to have found this forum, I think it will be really helpful.
I recently bought a 02, 3500 dually and will be picking it up down in California next month to drive back to Alaska. It is my first dodge and I am very excited to get it. It was owned and taken very well care of by my father-in-law.
I also bought a 11.5 slide-in camper, so I am looking to help the suspension/ride by upgrading if it's needed. I am trying to find out if the truck comes stock with a sway bar on the rear. If not I'll look at the Hellwig sway bar system. And I'm also thinking about the Firestone airbags for leveling. For a little more performance I bought a S&P Air Intake System and a Flo-Pro 4 inch exhaust system which I'll install when I get down there. I haven't decided on which programmer yet.

I would also look into a new lift pump if it hasn't been replaced yet and still has stock pump. If the transfer pump is mounted under the fuel filter housing then it is still stock. If it is weak or not working at all it will cause the high pressure pump to fail. Replace the fuel filter also with pump. Just a heads up before you drive it back to Alaska.

The dually's handle the camper thing real well without a lot of additional under-gear. +1 on the lift pump. I got tired of having the dealer change 'em and when the warranty ran out at 100K I put on 2 holley 'black' pumps and haven't had an issue since. Easy and cheap to change or replace as well. Always a good thing when you use your truck out back and not in the city.
Congrats on the new truck acquisition!

Thanks for the information on the lift pump. I looked on Amazon for the Holly "black " lift pump and they offer several different pressures, like 130 and 140. They have a 130 on sale for $120.00. Which would you suggest? I read on one post that the guy just removed the hoses to the stock unit and ran the Holly hoses to the filter. Can I leave the stock unit in place? My thought is, since the truck seems to run fine now, if I don't need to remove the stock lift pump I can leave it for a spare if the need arises while on the road. Either way, I will certainly have this lift pump situation worked out before I head north through Canada.

Fass pumps are American made, designed for diesel fuel use, will fit the original pump mount location.

My lift pump was bolted to the fuel filter housing. I made a block off plate from stainless to take the place of it and hung my holleys under the truck off the frame rail under the drivers seat area...just like the FASS pump.
It says it delivers the proper fuel pressure to the injector pump...is preset at 15-17 psi...and then says it's adjustable from 3 to 35 lbs? The black holley pumps deliver the same fuel flow and pressure range and cost about 1/2 that $300 price tag . I really don't see a lot of benefit... but it looks nice though.
