FNG w/ 05 RAM 3500

Greetings All,

My name is Jim and I'm a diesel noob. I have a travel trailer that I was pulling with a Nissan Titan. The wife and I were looking forward a bit to a point where we would be hauling a fifth wheel so I started looking at trading in the Titan for something diesel.

An opportunity presented itself on Wednesday when I found a 2005 RAM 3500 Quad Cab Dually with one prior owner an astonishingly low 25K miles. I jumped on it because the price was right so I'm the new owner of this beautiful rig.

However, I've already mentioned I'm a noob when it comes to diesel engines and their mechanical workings. Ask me about computers and I can help you with some pretty technical questions. Ask me about engines and I get the deer in the headlights look.

What I know about this truck: It has a PacBrake Exhaust Brake with an ATS Triple Lok Commander and ATS Valve Body. The transmission pan was replaced with a Mag-Hytec pan. What all that means and how to best utilize them I haven't a clue.

And that's why I'm here... to try and learn as much about this as I can so I can properly utilize this vehicle. Any help steering me to the beginner's section and/or resources are appreciated.

Best Regards,
