Wrong wheels?
Wrong wheels?
Hey i just bought a set of factory aluminum wheels off a 2001 dodge 2500. I am trying to put them on my 95 dodge 2500, the wheels fit on the front but won't fit over the hub on the rear. What gives, am I missing something? Please help!!!
I am guessing they don't go over the brake drum? They don't actually fit without some grinding it would seem. I am not too familiar with the problem myself as I have not yet tried putting on late 2ng gen wheels on my '96, but will by trying that option sometime in the future. Hopefully someone who has done the swap will chime in with more details.
I have both an '01 with drums and an '02 with disc brakes and am able to interchange the wheels without any issues. The wheels are the exact same on both. I think there was a change in the wheel size on the 2nd gen trucks, but am not sure what year the change happened. I do know that the wheels on my '96 are very different from the ones on the '01 and '02, even though they are all alloys.
I think Dodge changed the style of the drums and axle width around 99 when they started to offer the 16x8 aluminum wheels.
I have heard of guys using the 16 x 8s on 98 and earlier trucks but, they had to machine the inside of the wheel or outside of the drum about .020" or so to get them to fit.
It should definately fit over the hub?
