Won't Go???

It is about 3 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill at about -12 below. Truck has been running fine for the past couple of days. Took it to a car wash Wednesday, parked it in driveway {no garage}, forgot to plug in that night. Pluged in Thursday morning at about 11:30 am. until Friday morning, truck fired right up as usual for about a minute then died, tried to restart but nothing. It turns over like normal but won't go. Little white smoke out of the tail pipe while cranking. I replaced the fuel filter and added some diesel conditioner. I also enclosed around the bottom of the truck and put my torpedo kerosen heater under there. The cab was nice and warm. I thought that this would be pleanty of heat but, won't go. Is my pump gone? What do I do now? Help please. I don't realy want to tow it to Dodge.

Make sure that the fuel solenoid is working OK.
Also, crack an injector and crank the engine. Perhaps the fuel jelled and then the pump pulled some air from the rubber lines trying to run.

Just guessing

If you're getting fuel by bumping the starter to bleed the filter your pump is probably ok.
Probably just sucked some air. The way I bleed them is crack open three lines at the injectors then crank it over for awhile till bubble free diesel appears, close the lines and it should fire up. Good luck.

If you have a 24v you'll have to crack two injector lines maybe even three while someone turns the engine once you have beed off close the lines and continue to crank it should start right up. If your lift pump is gone you will have no pressure to the filter, about 400.00 at dodge. your fuel shouldn't jell if you got it a a major carrier they treat the fuel.

Not applicable to the 24V's

Please don't pay more than $200 for a Lift Pump.

If you are goingto pay $400 for one,, just get a FASS system for $150 or so more. Then Lift pump problems be gone.
