which wire is the tach wire?

DODGE, RAM PICKUP, 2001, Tachometer

Diesel tach wire is gray/black. The wire is located on the center of the firewall. There are two black plugs, the wire is in the top plug without the white insert. The tach wire can also be found at the ECM on the passenger side firewall in connector C-1, pin 8.

AAmeeting is right, and he is echoing what I said in an earlier post. Tap the wire at the connectors at the top of the firewall, under the hood.

Turns out it wasnt a wiring issue at all. The tech didnt program the xmitters like he was supposed to so only one worked. Then trying to use the other scrambled something so they went back in and the suppervisor got it all done proper. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I think you got lied to about it not being a wiring issue. From your description of the problem, it sounds like it was DEFINITELY a wiring issue.

Main thing is they got it taken care of and compensated my gas money for having to come back three times. Im satisfied.
