Wheel size for a 2006 dodge 2500 diesel crew cab!

Hello all! I have a Q that I cannot seem to find the answer to on the web, or from Les schwab or the dealer salesman right now.

I have a 2006 Dodge 2500 crew cab diesel 4X4 (big horn package) with 17" rims on it from the factory.

I am currently looking for studded tires and wheels for it, and found a set of studded tires and wheels at a good price. The problem is that the wheels and tires on this set are 16" NOT 17".

Does anyone know if the 16" wheels can be used on my truck, or will there be clearance issues with the calipers???

I don't know if the 17" wheels that came on my truck are more for performance, or necessary due to the caliper size.

Les schwab says there's no reference for 16" wheels on my truck, but the "senior" salesman says there should be no problem, and the service dept is closed today....

Can anybody help???
Thanks!!

Yeah, they wont fit without doing alot of grinding. I dont know if grinding would work for 16's maybe 16.5. Isnt worth it. They are 17's for a reason. I had a deal on some 16.5's i mean a deal. But i didnt get them due to the fact.

16in rims will NOT fit on 3rd gens due to the size of the brake calipers. There is NO mod that will work for this. Hope this helps.
