what type of sealant for deisel?

Im installing a holley blue today and a fuel pressure guage. What type of sealant do I need to use for tapping into the fuel system. I have a threaded plug on the fuel filter that im going to remove. I'll be attaching a needle valve, then plastice tubing to the electrical sending unit. I put some black ATV on it, but that disintegrated. I'm thinking some red thread sealant. I cant find anything at the autoparts store that sais its for sealing against gasoline (or diesel.) Also, what kind of relay do i need to get to power up the holley? I'm an electrical moron so when i ask for a relay, they say what kind? I dont know, just a relay. so what do i need?

Permatex Number 2 or Teflon paste - both work well. Teflon tape is risky as you dont want even the smallest bit entering your fuel system.

I would think a regular Bosche type relay will work for you.

Is the Holley Blue going on your 97?

yes, it is. I just got the fuel pressure guage up and running. i went with the permatex 2. Now ive just got to figure out this fuel pump. It came with a regulator. Ive got to find out a specific type of relay so i can tell what i need to the parts guy. Do i just ask for a bosch? im just waiting for them to ask for year make model 4wd what engine. I tell them it doesnt matter, im adding this part. Just get me a %@#$ relay.

I dont understand - WHY are you putting a Holly Blue on that truck??

The OEM lift pump can push just about 40 psi of fuel.

well, its one of those things that ya read about and everyone is doing it. So i think, i guess i'll try that and see what happens. Im getting about 24 PSI right now at about 3200 RPM no load. Maybe i'll have to do a search and pay closer attention to what they are going on.

Everyone is not putting these pumps on 12 Valve trucks. The pusher pump is just for 24Valve trucks (1998.5 and up). You dont need it.

Actually, I found that sometimes the permatex #2 or thread sealant with teflon leak air despite the sealant. I used something home heating guys use on pipes, 'rectorseal'

If its leaking I think you arent using it right. Ive used the teflon paste on high pressure natural gas pipe fitting up to 3000 psi.
