what should I service and what order?
Hello all, this is a general opinion question as to what I should service and in what order for my truck that I purchased about 3 weeks ago.

It is a 2001 3500, 5 sp QC. 4x4. 60k miles

My thoughts on what to service are oil, air filter, fuel filter, front and rear diff, coolant.

What order? I have changed the air filter, this weekend the fuel filter will be taken care of, but what next. The dealer I bought it from has a sticker in the windshield for the oil change at 58k so I am "probably" ok there.

What do you think, it would be nice to just do it all one weekend but I have already had to change the track bar, and I put on new tow mirrors to get it drivable (I could not stand th little OE mirrors). I ordered a steering stabilizer but have not recieved it yet and the gauges are on backorder. Don't think the wife will take much more unless I really need it done.

So that leaves me with the oil, diffs and the coolant. Is there more and how soon do I need to get these things done?

Thanks again. Roy
Re:what should I service and what order?
well...i would probably do the fuel filter next, it's always good to know it's clean and water free and remember to drain your water seperator ( i do mine once a month ). Check to make sure it's clean in there and remember, DON'T re-use the old o-ring...if possible, check your fuel pressure to make sure your LP is working properly ( very important )...the diff's ( just my opinion ) would probably be my last thing to do...Then order a fueling box, bigger injectors, a new trans, etc , etc, etc,
....as for oil changes, theirs alot of different opinions on this site, you'll have to make that decesion on your own...start a thread on it and you'll get lots of good opinions....good luck w/ your ride!

Re:what should I service and what order?
Roy, you can save yourself a lot of money by purchasing filters (air, fuel & oil) online, or either directly from a Cummins shop in your area. The markup for a fuel filter from Dodge is obscene. Fleetguard (a Cummins company) is the standard although forum members have used Baldwin, Wix, and others. Check out places online likeGeno's to get an idea of competitive filter prices.
