Have a ist generation 1990 Dodge Cummings D350 5.9L 1 Ton 2 Wheel drive Auto. Leaking coolant have checked all hoses etc. New Water pump arriving tommorow. Have not changed one in this type of monster. Help needed with direction and is this doable as my ace mechanic is out of town (superbowl) and I need tyo repair ASAP. The truck is a cherry with 135K and in excellent condition.

It doesn't get any easier than these trucks. Drain what's left of your coolant, remove the fan belt, and unbolt the water pump. Installation is reverse of removal. Not like a gasser where every belt driven accessory on the motor is bolted to the water pump.

 

The pump may also look different as they have been updated but work fine. I did my 89 in under an hour.

 

It is very easy for sure. I was looking at my bosses PSD and was thinking to my if it would be possible to to change the water pump in less than a day.
