VP44 bad or APPS problem?

I just replaced my LP and still have problems. A few days ago on a trip of about 200 miles I started having problems. I was going to pass another car and the engine cut out and engine light came on, after a few miles it did it again, I stopped and read the codes and got P1689. I cleared iy and went on to my destination. On the way back it started doing it again only worse. Checked the codes again and got P1689 and P1694. I nursed it home but it was getting so bad I couldn't step on the gas very hard. Thats when I found out about the LP going out. Now it is still getting the P1689 code and kicks out when I try to accelerate. It seems to be worse when its cold. It will start and run normally. Did I blow the IJ pump? Or is it something else? The LP was bad, it seems the pump head has a plastic drive piece that broke.

You need to add some info on your truck. Doesn't sound like the Injector Pump though. I don't know enough abou the particulars on the APPS to guess there.

Its a 01 HO engine, 103K, 6sp trans with a superchips on perf tow. By the way it does run better now but cuts out when accelerating just not as often.

Do the APPS reset first to see if it helps.....it's also cheaper to replace the APPS than the IP.

You need to get te codes read somewhere. You should be able to pull them yourself, but sometimes the companion code (P1689) will only display.

When my injection pump started to go I could pull the codes and knew 100% what was going on.

I'm not sure what the TE codes are, is that something that requires a special code reader?

mispelling

Foxx,

I think he just misspelled the word "the"; don't know what "te" would mean otherwise.

Well, I reset the APPS using the battery disconnect procedure and its still cutting out even worse this time. Can't get it to accelerate past 1800 RPM. I'm Thinking of dumping this thing and going back to gas! but my diesel pulls so good and gets 17 mpg! What to do?

Fix it and move on brother. Last thing I would do is go back to a gasser.

I tried to reset APPS again, no luck. If I rev the engine it will rev to 2300 then start cutting out. Now the code on the dash is P 1693 but my code reader says P1689. Should I start replacing parts? I could really use some help here, thanks

That 1689 code suggest damaged electronics on the VP44.

P1689 No Communication Between ECM & Injection Pump Module
