vacumm pump test

I Have A 1994 Ram 2500 4x4 And The Brake Pedal Gets Hard To Push After Two Or Three Pumps , I Put A Vacumm Gauge In The Line From Pump To Booster And It Takes A While To Build Back Up To 28 Inches Of Vacumm After Brake Pedal Pushed, I Can Pinch Off Line To Booster And Gauge Shoots Right Up , I Have Already Replaced The Booster , I Have A Line Straight From Pump To Booster To Elimate Other Things In The System. Thank You For Your Help

It's well known that the vacuum pump can't keep up with the brakes at idle, I think that's a big reason they switched to hydro-boost.

Dodge's solution is to add a vacuum reservoir tank that costs over $100 but which you can make yourself or buy elsewhere for under $20.
Or you can be aware of the pump's limitations and rev the engine up.
