Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer

The heck with pm, can I PRE-PAY to be first in line???? e-mail your address and I'll send you a check, it'll be fun to be the guinee pig, if it works, i could even have the guy that does the lettering for our trucks do some for the timer and put on the tail gate, free of charge of course, and no strings attached

Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer

Howard and I are putting together a technical article on this so you can see how easy it is to install and how it works. It will be posted in the technical article section here at DTR.

I am looking forward to working with Howard on it, sitting and waiting on my turbo to cool down enough to shut down is NOT one of my favorite pastimes. Living on top of a mountain , that means every single time I come home it is hot!

Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer

I posted in another thread that I got one of his very first prototypes. So easy to install I did it in about 5 minutes - a little trouble getting the 'hot' wire in with the fuse. (I'm old and clumsy) I use it multiple times a day and it has saved me much time and fretting over waiting to cool.

I hooked up to the e-brake but think I'm going to change that. I am a large person (280#) and the seat belts are too short for me to bend over and release the e-brake so I have to unlatch the seat belt, release the brake, refasten the seat belt, then put it in gear and go. I'm going to hook it up so that when the truck is put into gear it will kill the engine.

This is a great addition to the truck and the price is more than reasonable.

Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer

Stan,
Thanks for the good word, I am happy you like it! Connecting the timer to the trany is a good idea, but I don't think it will work. From all the testing I have done, the auto trany will not shift into gear when the timer is active. This is not a bad thing, if they cannot put it into gear they can't move the truck anyway. . But if you find a way, or if it works let me know.

Thanks,
Howard

Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer

Howard,

Senior Moment. :-[ I have many of them. :-[ :-[

Of course it won't go into gear with the key off and removed...so I'll just hook it to ground.
