Turbo Cool-down Timer
Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer
Thanks for all the information. I failed to find other timers when I did my initial search for them, I must have look under the wrong thing.

I installed my timer in a 1995 CTD Friday, it took me less than 60 seconds to hook it up. It ran flawless. I will continue my efforts to perfect the design, make it easy to install and keep the cost down.

Again any feedback you can give will be much appreciated. I will have pictures available ASAP.
Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer
Hey, don't give up just refine it make it easier to install or use as you said incorprate it to work with the alarm I think you would find plenty of interest you don't have to change something very much to get a new patent isued.I am in the middle of a simular situation myself I came up with a great idea I bounced it off from all the people I know and could trust every one thinks it's great after doing some reserch I found A patent from 1975 although it has never been produced so i'm in the process of refinning it good luck... George
Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer
I am too interested. For that kinda money I will take one NOW!!!
Just a couple qustions:
When you get out of your truck and lock it and so forth and lets say u walk away but someone breaks into your truck, ok now can you make it so if they press the brake or something that it just immediately shuts off the engine, and also can you make it so that if you have to leave while its still cooling down can you just put your key in the ignition and turn it to the run position and it cancels the timing cycle?
Also when do you think you will be selling them?
Thanks

Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer
Cumminsdude, Great questions:

First, if you have an automatic transmission., the transmission will not shift out of park the way it is setup now. I have not been able to test it with a manual transmission. I will do this soon.

Second, yes if the time has NOT expired and you want to put your key back in and turn to the run position, you can be on your way.

I am working on the PCB design, I am told it will take 3 week for delivery, once I get it to them. I am also looking into Patents, I do not want to get into trouble. In fact if anyone has one of the current, on the market timers and can get me the Patent number from it, I would be most grateful.

I am also looking into making it work with the truck alarm system. If anyone can provide information (model#, serial#, schematic diagram, etc) For the type of alarm they are using I would be most grateful again ;D

While I am at it, let me ask everyone's advice. I am thinking about having the timer box mounted on the front of the dash with a single ½ inch hole (for both wires and mounting stub). Will anyone have a problem with drilling a ½ inch hole in there dash? I am thinking, just above the knees on the left side of the driver.

Again thanks for the feedback,
Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer
GREAT! Thanks for the quick response. This is exactly what I want so hurry and get them done!

As for your last question, me personally I do not want to drill holes in my dash so I would probably mount it with double sided tape or velcro or something to avoid drilling holes.

CAN'T WAIT ;D

Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer
I agree, double sided tape works.

I have the factory alarm , and i think it would work without a hitch. My remote start works with the alarm. when the doors are locked, the alarm is activated.

Keep us informed , as ppl have allready sed, I`ll take one now for that price
Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer
I have made some great progress in the last week. My main pain in the neck is with electronic part suppliers, I have had parts on order for 2 weeks and I haven't received the parts or had word about back orders or anything >
>

I ran into a bit of a snag with the 2003 trucks, The library had electronic diagram for all CTD years except the 2003. I looked at the 2003 truck and they have made some major changes. I think this one will leave me stumped until I have the ignition schematics for the 2003. If someone has the service manual for the 2003 and can get me a copy of the ignitions diagrams, I would be a happy camper ;D

Sorry if it looks like I am dragging my feet on this, but there is a lot more work involved that I thought. I could through parts together and send them out, but I want it done right.

Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer
Just as our kids used to say "I WANT, I NEED, I GOTTA HAVE.....NOW". The neighbors all look at me EVERY evening just sitting in the driveway and the truck idleing, so today I just got out and went in the house, came out 10 min. later and shut it off, Just think of the look on their face if I get out and go in and then the truck shuts off by it's self
. Let me know the cost and shipping date....Can it ship on Wednesday, because I needed it on Tuesday ;D

Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer
As soon as you get the electronic parts how long do you think you will be before you actually ship them?

Let us know when the parts come in!! I CANT WAIT ;D
Re:Turbo Cool-down Timer
I ordered the parts I needed for the final prototype two weeks ago, I found out yesterday that the order had been lost. :
:- :'(
I also found out that on some truck models there is a noise issues, so I have had to design some noise filtering into the timer.
I think I am getting close, if only the parts would come.
