Today i drove down the road to meet my buddy to pick my bullydog programmer up and before i tried to install it i tried starting my truck and when i started cranking it over it just cranked and never fired off. Also i noticed that when i turn the key on the fuel gage the voltage gage and temperature gauge doesnt even work at all, and the truck wont start. I checked my fuses and i have diesel but no start. any help would be appreciated.

 

Simple things first, is your fuel pump running for approx. 25 secs after you crank it? If yes, have you loosened the banjo bolts on top of the filter housing to see if fuel is coming out? Finally, have you loosened an injector to see if fuel is coming out there?

I know they're basics, but a diesel is a simple engine to start (unless you computer is not sending information to injectors). After all of the above, you could probably pierce the signal wire to the injector, to see if its getting anything from the computer. HOWEVER, I don't know for sure if this would work or even be recommended by more experienced folks on the forum. Good luck.

(Yesterday mine wouldn't start after draining some water out until after approx. 45 min. of crank, bleed, crank, bleed something else, crank, wait 20 min. crank, start)

 

Do the key on off on off on trick and see if you get any codes. I bet there will be a code since your gauges are not workin.

 

i did the key on of three times and no codes at all and i could here the ticking noice when i turned the key over and waited for the wait to start light to go off and it just cranks and cranks and never starts. Its a weird deal
