Truck Wont Run!!!help,please!!!!

Guys,
i'm in a bad way here....i was on my way home from work this evening when i got a bad surprise. running 55mph down the road and the truck just quit, no power when you press the go pedal. the truck engine was still running for about a minute or two and then it died. coasted to the side of the road, tried to start again. it started, but only ran a second or two and died again...repeated the same two more times...
first thought - i wasn't getting fuel, decided to drain the water fuel seperator, like when changing fuel filter, and fill back up with key switches on and off. once i drained the filter housing of the existing fuel, the truck would not pump anymore fuel back into the filter housing...
truck will not start at all now...called a tow truck and had it towed to the house. $60 for a two mile tow ...i thought maybe my fuel pump went out, but never heard of one going out while running or in an instant like it did. is the problem electrical??? i'm really at a loss here....no good dealers or mechanics in my area, don't know where to start.
i opened up the filter housing, put my new spare fuel filter in and added some fresh fuel...truck started for a brief second and died, now it won't start at all AGAIN!!!!!
i thought i was somewhat diesel smart, but i am stumped and don't know what to do. PLEASE, ANYBODY, I NEED SOME HELP IN THE WORST WAY....I KNOW YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT TO DO TO GET ME RUNNING AGAIN....ANY COMMENTS OR REPLIES WOULD HELP EASE MY MIND.....THANKS

I'd guess you're either out of fuel or you lift pump died.

Try pouring about 5 gallons in the tank.
How many miles since the last fillup?
It could be a pump problem.
Just trying the cheap and easy stuff first.

5/100! (7?/100) Keep up trying to run the truck with a bad LP and you'll be finding out if the injector pump is covered too.

Same thing happened to me, and I ran out of fuel. My tank Module crapped out.
I took the FF canister lid off, and bumped the starter to get the LP going. The LP started, but no fuel.

He's stating on 300 something miles since last fill-up, he should still have ~1/2 tank of fuel.
Sounds like either a Transfer Pump problem, or a clogged fuel supply line.

I realize that he should have about half a tank left, but he may have been siphoned by some punk, and really be empty.

Just a quick note, Yes if the lift pump failed the truck, even though it was running fine, will just out of the blue quit running. Call Chrysler customer care hotline, it's in your owners manual, explaining the millage etc and they will tow it to your closest dealer for repair. Next, if it is the lift pump which it sounds like it is, it is located on the side of the fuel filter canister, will be removed and relocated to the in tank pump, takes about 1 day for repairs if parts are in stock, and whatever time for parts if not in stock. Don't be suprised if about 1 month later a similuar thing happens and then it will be the injector pump, the CP3 pump, as starving the cp3 with a failing lift pump usually causes the cp3 to fail also. On your 04.5 it should be covered under your "ENGINE" warranty, under 5 years and under 100K no deductable over 5 yrs under 100K $100 deductable. Dealer will try to put you under the 7yr/70K ($100 deductable) but read your owners manual and under the engine warranty it states amongst other things fuel pumps, injectors engine crankshaft, pistons and so on. Stand your ground if they try the $100 thing and call Customer Care who will confirm no charge.

Good luck but get it to the dealer, unless you want to install a Fass or like system on your own.
