Truck Quit Again
Truck Quit Again
I think my brand new IP is toast... but I dont know why...
Just had my second IP put in March 26th, less than 1000 miles on it since...Looks like im onto my third...
I didnt have a fuel pressure gauge the first two times, but I just finished the install last thursday, and put new fuel filter in and everything was fine. 10-12 psi during normal driving, can bring it down to just under 9 WOT. So it shouldnt be a lift pump that is hurting the IP is it?
The first time it went out it gave some warning.... dead pedal, and never actually died. Last month, it quit as I exited the interstate... no codes, just wouldnt start.... Today I stopped for lunch, shut the truck off, came back out started it, it ran for 15 or 20 seconds idling before I moved it and it just shut off and wouldnt start again. Again no codes, or engine light... just dead.
These trucks dont have some sort of shut off selenoid somewhere on them do they... we had a 97 ford that did that a couple of times...
It just doesnt feel like it should have died this quick... Maybe there is some other cause...
Any ideas, things I can make sure the dealer checks?
My 5/100,000 ran out march 1st.... after calling DC I was able to get the work on the last pump covered... And this pump has a 1 yr/12,000 mile warranty if that is in fact the problem.
Any ideas what might be going on?

thought i might add this.... completely full tank of fuel both times... back in march I filled up and drove 30 or 40 miles and it died.... I filled up this morning and the truck sat till noon, drove it 5 or 6 miles and thats when it quit...
my truck suffers from same dead peddle syndrome also. ip? dunno. no codes, no money to buy another ip to find out. truck still runs, but crappy power. just figured i'd bump this thread back to the top. good luck
