Truck down for lift pump / fuel limit valve ?
short story, 03 hard start, now no start... remove fuel filter to get running to dealer. transfer pump bad and states fuel limiting valve bad. Dealer wants $1989.00 to fix. WOW... does anyone know if just replacing transfer pump with BD oem bypass will fix me.. I have no idea what the fuel limit valve is or what it does.
all i know is I my truck has been loosing power for some time and [/I]added an inline 12 fuel pump as a pusher about 2 months ago... (read it somewhere) but does nothing for my symptoms of long crank, hard start. Soon as i replace the fuel filter...(x4) no more starting issues until now.
Yes, I need a fuel press guage...and so on.... but I am searching for the least expensive fix at the moment. any help?

yea, of course.... its got 153k but from what I am learning the lift pumps are the weak link in the 3rd gens.. just not sure what the fuel limt valve has to do with the big picture yet.

Give these guys a tryhttp://www.mwfi.com They are the only ones I found that can actually get the filter mounted lift pump. cost about 200 bucks and back in buisness after 10 minutes.

"fuel limit valve" Are you meening the valve at the end of the fuel rail for returning fuel. If so thats an easy fix might have just came apart. That would make it so all your fuel is returning to your pump or tank instead of going thru your injectors. Are you throwing any codes like low fuel rail pressure.

no injector codes, but has the some ol codes from year ago.. (sim key...turbo overboost.....) I read somewhere, that the limiting valve, or AKA" rail relief valve" can be removed and fitted with a "plug" bolt. SO .. i looked for it last night but I am not sure where it is... there is what looks like a relief valve next to the fuel rail pressure switch/wire connector but also on the end of the fuel rail is maybe another one?
I am going to start pullin stuff off just to know whats going on...

Just go ahead and put in aftermarket system like a Walbro set-up from Glacier Diesel and never have to worry about it again. Don't think you have the other issue just that your lift pump crapped out on you and the power loss was the CP3 trying to pull fuel through dead pump. Don't let the dealer take your money.
