Transmission problem I need HELP

Trans will not shift out of first gear at all. I can pull the relay and put it into limp "third" it will then shift manually into second and that is it. When you turn the truck off and start it back it is stuck in first again. I reset the apps and it shifted fine, but the brake and abs light came on. I shut the truck off and turned it back on the brake and abs light did not come on but it was stuck in good ole first gear again.

First off welcome to DTR.. Second, what kind of truck do you have? What year, auto or stick? If auto it could be the 1-2 shift band

Sorry it is a 99 2500 4x4 with an automatic. I am not sure about the shift band because when I reset the apps it shifted fine till I shut it off. If the band were bad wouldn't I be able to start out in second and go from there, or shift it manually.

06 2500 shift problems

my 06 dodge with auto tranny hesitates to shift into third gear and sometimes bumps back and forth between 2nd and third. the local dodge dealer has been throwing parts at it for 2 weeks and I am out about $2500.00 with still no solution. any good guess?

First things I would check is fluid level. After that I would check your kickdown cable adjustment. Being as it is connected to the APPS, it may need adjusting for some reason.

Other options you could try is test your speed sensor on the tail end of the transmission. Or your governor solenoid is faulty inside the valve body.

If you have access to a scan tool that can monitor transmission, hook it up and see what it's doing at a sit still and while driving.

Definantly sounds like an electrical issure. I would start with the sensors in the tranny. Governor sensor, transducer, and speed sensor. Gonna run around $300 for all three from the dealership and yes, that is only place to get them. And no, you cannot return them if it doesn't solve the problem. They are yours when you walk out of the building.

If that doesn't fix the problem, then your most likly looking at an entire rebuild anyhow, so the new electronics will carry over.

As others have stated, get a scanner on it asap, and post what is going on.

It threw a speed sensor code. So it replaced the output shaft speed sensor and it is all fixed it actually shifts better than it ever has or at least it shifts when it is supposed to. Thanks for the help and the responses.
