transmission fluid compatable hose....

I want to replace a couple of 10" sections of hose in my transmission cooling lines. They're just pushed over the steel line and have clamps on the end. I don't think fuel lines are recommended for trany fluid. NAPA & O'Reilly didn't have any 1/2" lines rated for trans. fluid. I called a hydraulic repair shop and they recommended "push lock hose" to withstand the ratings for the fluid but were not sure of being able to seal it with hose clamps. Isn't that the same hose you recieve with the Vulcan big line kit. colored blue?

Any ideas? The reason I'm changing them is 'cause one came loose and puked out alot of fluid before I caught it. Not sure why or how that happens but I can only guess the wrong hose was used and over time it softens up and the clamp is then loose. I was fortunately 800 ft. from the house and the truck/transmission was still cold.

You might try putting a couple of rings around the tubing with a tubing cutter. It seems to help the hose grip the tubing.

on my old K5 blazer, I used to use a double flaring tool (first step only, not the actual flaring of the line) to slightly bow out the ends of the hard line.

Another idea is put two hose clamps on each end. For the hose, visit your local John Deere dealer. He will have lots of different size hose that is compatable with oil.

I will agree with everyone!

Try a power steering return hose or hit the John deer dealer or even a full service Caterpillar dealer both of those will have the hose you need! I know that Cat will cut however much you need!
