Transfer Case Problem

Hello everyone,

First time here

I have a 92 D250. The problem I have is kind of strange. When I am in 2WD I get a panging/grinding noise from the transmission or transfer case. It almost like a bearing is loose inside.

Leaving the truck in 2WD with the hubs locked the noise goes away. When I crank the wheel to turn I get a similar noise but without the violent panging.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

I have sourced a remanufactured transfer case in Las Vegas NV but before I commit I am still in troubleshooting mode.

Thanks

Sean
Re:Transfer Case Problem

Check the adjustment of your T-case shifter.
I had the same prob one time on a GMC.
The shifter is not disenguaging the T-case with enough clearence and the gears may be tipping causing this.
With the hubs locked ALL gears are turning and the TIPPING goes away.
Just something to check.
It happened to mine and I put a new shifter assembly on T-case and all was good. The old was worn plum out.

: Eddie : 8)
