My 5 speed (5th gear) went out on me last night for the fourth time. Truck is a 99 2500 4wd and only has 132,000 on it so I want to keep it. Does anybody have any ideas? I was thinking about trying to swap to the 6spd tranny. How hard would this be and does anybody know where I can find one? Open to any and all of your thoughts. Thanks.

 

If you have it rebuilt with an updated kit and tack weld the nut on you wont have the problem anymore. As for the six speed swapyou would need, the trans clutch and flywheel, the front and rear drive shafts, so that can be pricey. Best way to get all them is a salvage yard.
